That is a really fitting description! This arc really emphasises the friendship ties between the characters, and not just Elizabeth and Katsura, but also the ex-Joi and the Yorozuya... Basically, time and distance might be between them, but that cannot get in the way of true friendship.
It had not occurred to me, but it's a really good thought - the fact that they save the Earth now is significant, if we consider their past.

But it was not just pretty, it had a deeper significance - it really felt like a moment of epiphany, like at that moment Katsura realised how important the Earth is for him. Well, it was important for him before, too - but this moment still felt really climactic in this episode.
And I think it definitely was the first time Katsura saw the Earth from space, so a sensitive and impressionable person like him could not be unaffected by that view...
