There really isn't anything to update on, but I'm trying to make it a habit to write down and remember the ordinary as well as the extraordinary.
Kurtis is almost back to normal with his leg. We're still packing it every day, but the swelling as gone down dramatically and he's moving around normal. He thinks he's going to start working out regularly this week, too. It's been a stressful month and half dealing with that darn leg, and I want my side of the bed back, but it's certainly been a learning and growing process for us. We are closer, that is without question - we didn't have an option. He needed a nurse :)
We went out to dinner with friends on Saturday and the last few months have really helped cement the idea of friendships here. I don't feel like the people we socialize with her are just acquaintances - they really are friends, and we laugh really darn hard together. Who ever knew Paduka, Kentucky could be so hilarious. I love that we make plans as a group - small plans and big plans. I love them all.
I'm getting anxious for the holiday season to get here. I realized today that I have only 12 days of teaching between now and Thanksgiving...and there are a few breaks this week, next week will be a long, full week, and the week after is only a two day week. I just can't wait! The whirlwind that we experience is exhausting sometimes, but to see friends and family that we haven't seen in months is worth any exhaustion.
Other than that, there really isn't much going on. Work continues to be really great. My days go quickly and I'm learning how to not be scrambled. I feel organized, which is a favorite of mine. The only true frustration I have here is the lack of communication that comes my way. I'm set so far away from everything with no intercom down here, so I don't hear a thing...I feel very out of the loop, but I guess that has its advantages too :) The students continue to make up for the small paycheck, and the freedom I have with lesson planning is a true blessing.
I'm hoping to someday soon have journals that are exciting and awesome! Maybe that's my life now though - just ordinary and happy :)
