Cougar was going to cuff Jensen, really hard.

He knew it was a little unfair on his part, that he actually should have been proud of how difficult the hacker had made tracking him each time he skipped a city, but he was going to cuff him anyway.

After waking up Cougar had gone though a year of therapy before his muscles and reflexes were back to the way they were before getting shot and falling into a coma for a year.

He didn't remember Aisha, the woman in the burqa had to be her or some friend of hers, didn't remember getting out of the base or anything between his and Jensen parting words and then waking up in a hospital in Canada with no idea of how he got there and instinctively lying through his teeth that he didn't knew who he was or from where he was from.

They assumed he was a tourist, wounded in some street fight, and he let them do it, focusing on getting back to his feet and back to one hundred percent because the sooner he did it, the sooner he was going to track down Jensen and apologize to him before kissing him senseless.

Cougar knew he should have gone and called him but Jensen was tough. He was going to survive, and Cougar wanted to be at the peak of his health when they saw each other again; not in bed with half of what his muscular tone used to be.

Two years of his life wasted, one in a bed dreaming about what he thought was his death and one working to get back into his shape. Two fucking years during which Jensen had thought he was dead.

And three other years spent chasing what was almost a ghost. Anytime he got near, anytime he got near enough to catch a glimpse of Jensen the man disappeared again, leaving him with nothing in his hands and more work to do to track him down again.

Jensen had been his only priority and objective for a long time, but after almost three years of false leads and apartments recently vacated, in some cases just a few hours prior, Cougar had realized what he should have years before, if he hadn't been so obsessed: that he had a simpler road to follow.

He got in contact with Pooch and Jensen sister.

Who ... didn't think much of his planning and strategy up until that point to be honest. Cougar was just happy he wasn't in the same city as Julie or he probably would have ended up back in the hospital with a few new bullet wounds in his body.

Pooch had also informed him that he was going to sick Jolene on his ass the next time they saw each other, which was going to be as soon as possible in Pooch's mind. In Cougar's ... not so much.

The Pooch could be a bastard and Jolene was a force to be reckoned with. Cougar was actually happy, at that point, that Jensen was fixated on Europe for the moment.

Julie and Pooch, regardless of their opinion on Cougar's handling of the thing, both talked (wrote, whatever) to Jensen though, encouraging him to stop and just talk to him.

All of them thought that Jensen was smart (which he was) and surely had figured it out that Cougar was after him (which he hadn't) and was just being a pissed off son of a bitch (which he wasn't at the moment but could easily have been and Cougar wouldn't have faulted him for that).

That had been just before Jensen cut off any and all communication from his sister and Pooch, with an email where he "reminded" them that Cougar was dead and encouraging his PTSD wasn't going to do any good to him or the kid.

'Cause Jensen now had a kid. A drunk one-night-stand-produced kid, listening to Julie, who had been nice enough to send Cougar some pictures of the baby.

She also told him that there were a lot more than the couple of photos she has sent him, but they had Jensen in them and Beth had decided that Uncle Cougar was out of her graces and didn't needed to see pictures of Uncle Jensen until he made things right between them.

Julie, off-course, had given in to her. The Jensen family could be really inventive when it came to being vindictive. Where Cougar would have just shot someone they had all those little ways of getting back at him. Like putting a thirteen year old in front of a webcam and let her give him a dressing down complete with the evil eye and wagging finger.

So he had only the glimpes he had got during the years, and the footage that the contact he was paying to track Jensen down had given him to go by. Jensen seemed to be worse for the wear in the grainy images but still better than he used to be, which did little to loosen the knot in the sniper's stomach.

Also, now Jensen had PTSD apparently. Pooch had told Cougar that Jensen was in contact with a specialist, but neither he or Julie had been able to gather intel about the therapist himself, because the hacker had seen fit to bury him as deep as he could (which probably was deeper than the Mariana Trench, knowing the man).

Everything that they had seen and done and gone through and he got PTSD after that last mission. Cougar's guilt had doubled after discovering that, and his desire to put things right had become even bigger and pressing. The thought of what Jensen had to be going through kept the Mexican awake at night, especially knowing that the other man was trying to do things right by his son.

He was going to make things right. It wasn't going to be the last thing he ever made, because he had in mind to do a lot of things to and with Jensen afterwards, but he was going to do it.

He had to.
