Deadline for submissions.

Sep 06, 2005 13:23

Again I just want to express my thanks for everybody who is pitching in on this. In order to get this project off the ground, I want to set Wednesday, September 7, 2005 as the last day to donate an item. Once we have all the submission we can break everything into lots and start the auctions on Thursdays 9:00am (Eastern Time USA) and close them on Tuesdays at 11:59pm (eastern Time USA).

Given what it looks like we have coming in, it seems to me that we have enough for three bidding lots. The first set would (assuming all goes well) go up for auction September 15, 2005. The second set would go up September 22, 2005. The final set would go up September 29, 2005.

As far as bidding goes, we will follow the same procedures used by jelybeansociety earlier this year. In a nutshell, this mean that all bidding is done in US dollars and all payments must be made via PayPal. We are in the process of setting up our PayPal account now and will release full instructions before bidding commences.

Here is a copy of some of our general information~

Rules and information for bidders

How will we alert the winners?
At the end of each bidding period, a moderator will post the winners for each of the auction lots. Read these posts for further instructions.

How will donors know when and to whom to ship items?
At the end of each bidding period, a moderator will contact the donor with details after the payment has been received.

How will the winners pay, and get what they've won?
All payments will be via PayPal. A moderator will provide additional payment details when you've won. Please make sure your email info is visible on your LJ info page, or post it with your bid if you don't have an LJ.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
Read each bidding lot carefully. Many of our donors have agreed to cover the cost of shipping within their own continent or to split the diffence of overseas shipments.

What proof can you offer that my money is going to the right place?
When all payments have been made, a certified check for the entire donation will be mailed to The American Red Cross and a copy of the check (with identifying information removed) will be posted on the
auction website. When the American Red Cross sends a receipt/thank you letter for the donation, that will be scanned and posted as well.

Winners' names and their winning bids will be posted so anyone is free to add up and verify our math.

How long do I have until I pay for each item I win?
All winning bidders MUST make their donations no later than ONE WEEK from the end of the auction, otherwise the piece will go to the next highest bidder. Please, if you plan on donating, please make sure your Paypal account is in proper working order and ready to go.

Who's running these auctions, anyway?
