Reports of my death...

Howdy! *manic waving*
Guess who is totally not dead? Well, you know, besides Dean...  M&M actually threatened to file a missing persons report on me! LOL Sorry for falling off the grid for so long!!  RL has been totally insane!
Quick recap:
- FINALLY got my computer back today! For the past couple months, I've been stuck using my dept laptop, which actually blocks LJ as a restricted site (please, join me in waving a certain finger at the fascist IT mf-ers). I still don't have access to all my old files yet, but they were recovered and I'll have them back soon.
- Started the new job and (apart from certain IT policies), I'm mostly loving it!
- Moved to GA, slept on various nice people's couches for a while, and then finally found a new place! Yay!! It's another total fixer-up, but it's a really spiffy older house (parts of it date back to the early 1900s!) that I'm completely in love with. It's taken awhile to get it livable (didn't have a working stove, fridge, hot water, bathtub... minor things like that - yes, I actually paid real money for it, methinks I might be stupid), but it's gradually coming along. I've finally got a functional kitchen, bathroom, sleeping area, and, most importantly, a TV in time for premieres (yes, my priorities may bit a teensy bit off, why do you ask?). It's been a ton of work (I do nearly everything myself), and there's several tons more, but it's starting to look like an actual house that human beings live in, so that's nice. It's going to be totally awesome when it's done! For now, I'm just loving being out in the country again. The house is surrounded by the remnants of a 100-yr plus old pecan orchard, so it's got phenomenal trees, and there's 5 acres of fields around it. In a couple years - once I get the house refinished, rebuild the barn, and clean up the fields and fencing - I will finally have horses again. I can hardly wait!
- A couple bonuses with the house: (1) I now have a cat. The previous property owners (epic haaaate) abandoned their cat rather than take her with them. She was alone without food for three weeks between when they left and I bought it! If they'd just told me they weren't going to take her, I would have seen to it that she was taken care of, but I didn't know a thing about it until I started camping out here. Thankfully, she's a tough little thing. I named her Gracie. She's the most ungraceful creature ever (she literally falls on her head when she's happy about being petted), not counting me, so it just seemed to fit. She's incredibly sweet, super friendly with women (terrified of men - I think the sob must have abused her), and is practically velcro'd to me from the second I get home. (2) Cheap entertainment. The house has tons of massive, nearly floor to ceiling windows. Every night, each one will have several awesome tree frogs on them, eating bugs attracted by the lights of the house. They're adorable and really fun to watch. I took a pic (below) of one of them during the day. At least once a week or so, I'll spot the biggest freaking moths I have ever seen, too. They're the size of my hand, yellow and orange, and absolutely gorgeous! I love walking around the house each night to look out the windows and see what's on them each night. Did I mention I'm easily amused? (3) New plants. For those of you who don't know, I'm a total plant nut. I've never lived in the South before, so I'm having a lot of fun figuring out the local plants. A week or so ago, after all the rains from the hurricanes, practically overnight, these knee-high orange lilies (Lycoris radiata, I think, from what I looked up online) started popping up all over my yard and fields (close-up pic below). They're everywhere, and it was such a neat surprise. I can't wait to see what other surprises are in store throughout the year.
Well, this was supposed to be a "quick" recap... *facepalm* I fail at brevity. Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics:

I've missed you guys so much!! Now that I have my computer back, I should be checking in on LJ frequently. It wil probably take me a while to get caught up on posts and emails and such, so please, be patient with me. Looking forward to seeing what you have all been up to!
