My addiction

I have had, and I will probably always have, a serious addiction to lipgloss. Eyeshadow, the right foundation, a good mascara can all be wonderful, but nothing will ever take the place of lipgloss in my life.

Here are some of my favorite lipglosses of yore:

1. Avon glowing ghost lip balm. It was a ghost finger puppet, with plain lipgloss inside. I got it when I was six. I'm fairly certain this is still sitting on my dresser at my parent's house.

2. Avon Rock N' Roll dual sided lipgloss. This was the first lipgloss my mother let me get that actually had color. Clear on oneside, neutral on the other. I can still almost taste the stuff. It had a tacky texture like nothing I had ever experienced.

3. Cherry Cola sliding tin. One side was cherry, the other cola. This was when tins of lip balm, sold at JC Penneys were the big thing among the preadolescent crowd. It was wonderfully scented, but had no flavor.

4. My Big-Ass tube of Bonne Bell flavor savers with some kind of sunscreen. There was a time (and I'm not making this up) when the Cool Thing To Do was for the girls to wear giant sticks of lipgloss around their necks on cords. This was shortly after the era of Big Comb with Funny Saying in Back Pocket. This was actually a major lipgloss disappointment because I *really* wanted the flavored kind, but my parents instead got me something with sunscreen. How annoyingly practical.
