Diversity Awareness Month Recs!
So since many of my favorite characters to read about in Potterverse are characters of color, I follow the awesome hp-diversity comm, where swissmarg is awesome at collecting recs and listing recent fest postings that feature characters of color. For the month of October there have been daily rec posts featuring a huge variety of gen and pairing pieces submitted by members. (But not me because I'm a lazy head /o\ and lost track of time)

Things Are Gonna Get Brighter-- a super emo & angsty but ultimately sweet & smutty Deamus fic set immediately after DH ♥ That All Too Familiar Smile-- a short, sexy Lee/Lily Luna where Lily is hot & sassy and Lee swears a lot ♥ A Share of the Love Magic-- One of the funniest things I think I've ever written featuring George/Lee and cocky!matchmaker!Charlie and adorkable Ron and Harry and Stan Shunpike blind dates ♥ Tale As Old As Time--A Beauty & the Beast inspired Goyle/Padma piece featuring magical antiques with fun tales and legends attached and an enchanted rose garden ♥ A Lavender/Parvati drabble featuring sexy, bickering best friends in the rain ♥ In the Meadow We Can-- a cute Roxanne/Scorpius secret admirer ficlet. I particularly how Roxanne's similarities to her parents shine through but she's definitely not a copy of either ♥ Grown Up Miss Chang a Quidditch themed Cho/Oliver drabble with fast flying and flirtatious banter ♥ What Beauty to Behold-- a short Cho/Marietta piece during OotP with Cho being an amazing friend to a just-cursed Marietta
Memories as a Teacup Long, plotty, glorious Dean/Seamus and one of the most amazing fics I've ever read, full stop. Dean is presumed dead in a DE raid, Seamus grieves, Dean is alive but has lost his memories, Seamus sees him, it is oh-so-gloriously-complicated-and-heart-rending. Love this so very much. Also bonus points for featuring probably my favorite Parvati (as a magical therapist) of all time. Also see all wook77's other Deamus stories, because everything is brilliant.
More Dean/Seamus love by kaalee. This is an 11-part, 10k 'verse of fantastic-ness: pining, UST, and adorable boys. Gorgeously written and so delicious with the almosts, not quites, so dang closes, and the finally! *waves I ♥ UST banner*
Lee's Story, a prompt table by vanseedee. So good! A wonderful character study of Lee with great use of the twins as his best mates and a beautiful, thoughtful, slow-developing Lee/George to top it off. (Also her long, plotty, slightly-confusing-but-totally-worth-it, psychedelic Lost in Reality cuz homg so good)
Half Empty in Hong Kong by ozma-katiebell which features the genius pairing of George/Parvati. Who better to understand a twin in mourning than another identical twin? Sad, sweet, sexy, and hopeful. Another of my all-time fav post DH fics.
And Giant-Winged Whatsits by thimble-kiss A gorgeous Dean/Luna ficlet that features an artistic Dean, a perfectly characterized Luna, and writing so evocative and lovely you'll not realize it's less than 700 words.
Loving Padma by wwmrsweasleydo This is a rarepair (Goyle/Padma) gem that I cannot get enough of. A fascinating look at Greg Goyle and Padma through his eyes during DH.
Table For One by ozma-katiebell which is sweet, sexy, sassy Parvati/Harry. So witty and clever. Love it.
Erm, actually that entire list wound up being written by people on my f-list! Totally unintentional (however, perhaps this is why I'm friends with them!) I kept looking up old stories I enjoyed at fests and rolling my eyes when it was always the usual suspects! These are just a few of so many great fanworks. Enjoy!
