Meme time! Nicked from igrockspock

I currently have 113 works archived at AO3. Pick a number from 1 (the most recent) to 113 (the first thing I posted there), and I'll tell you three things I currently like or three random tidbits about it.

let's play a game, meme, writing

Finding Crookshanks. Ha! This is SUCH a fitting choice for you!

1.) Was written as a 2011 holiday drabbly bit for a setting prompt-- gray skies, crunching leaves. It is one of the drabbly bits that I remain very pleased with to this day. It is Ron (and Trio by extension) focused and gen, but you could call it pre-Harry/Ron if you squint like super duper hard.

2.) I wrote this story when my family's cat Jayne went missing. It was a helpful way to deal. At that point I still had hope we'd get a happy ending like I gave these guys! *sad sigh* Alas, we never got any closure.

3.) This is (I'm pretty sure, at least!) the only fic I have ever written from Ron's POV. I have only written Ron a few times, but this fic is the only one focused on him.

Also, HI! I've missed you! *cuddles*

So very true! I'm making a concerted effort to be more active on LJ. I miss everyone and I find that I'm more happy in all aspects of my life when I am more involved here. I think it's both the social interaction with all my awesome friends and also the creative outlet where I can write and appreciate the stuff others create and prompt and whatever else!

A Conversation in Flowers

1.) This was a short and sweet little engagement story that I wrote for my first round of Holiday Drabbly Bits in 2010.

2.) I wrote it mainly because I wanted to play with the Victorian flower language, which I find fascinating!

3.) This was my first Neville/Ginny story and I wound up writing this pairing for coffee-n-cocoa (her OTP) for all five rounds of Holiday Drabbly Bits. Though I'm quite fond of the pairing, outside of HDB, I have never written them.

Also, I just noticed that AO3 doesn't have Neville/Ginny as an often written pairing choice when I'm searching my works. Odd, as with five occurrences, you'd think it would warrant a mention! I wonder how they choose which ten suggestions will show up. I thought it was whatever you had most of, but perhaps it's most read? *wonders*

Ooooh, snap! A Dish Best Served. Talk about an outlier!

1.) I wrote this for femmefest 2014. I got luvscharlie for the exchange and knew that she knew my writing style very well. I'm rather obvious much of the time! So I vowed to come up with something totally different that she would never guess I'd written! I think I succeeded with this one, because holy crap! It's dark, revenge-y, infidelity, and unlike anything I've ever written before! I rarely write dark stuff and almost never infidelity (it's something I have no interest in reading/writing and do not find at all sexy. That said, there are exceptions to that rule, as with anything!) But she had Lavender/Rose, wrong and revenge-y for a prompt and suddenly this entire story was writing itself in my head-- in second person to boot ( ... )

I actually remember reading this at femme fest and enjoying it. I do like your writing a lot and I hope you attempt 2nd person again at some point. :D

(I also hope maybe you come play at Smutty Claus this year >.> but that's cause I'm greedy for wonderful writers.)

Yeah, I think I remember you commenting. It got a good response there, which made me pretty happy! :) I've only 2nd person twice (the other time was a Dudley story I wrote for the first dudley_redeemed. It's a fun challenge and works so well but only for certain stories. When I do write a fic in it, both times it was because the story absolutely demanded to be told that way and I was helpless to stop it! (For this story, being an exchange fic, it helped that I knew Shannon loves 2nd person, because it's a big turn off for a lot of people.)

Oh, I'm so tempted! I've always been far too intimidated by Smutty Claus. Like I remember when I first started writing and that was like the big exchange for the big names and super amazing people. I just hid out in the prompt fests for a long time! But oh, I do love a good exchange! Gift fics are so fun-- both to give and receive! I'm very nervous about not being able to complete it though. I think I'm going to give next-gen-fest and/or interhouse-fest a shot and see how well I'm able to juggle writing and the ( ... )

Interesting! 22 is actually a podfic of A Week of Coming Out that sisi_rambles made-- and quite well! (I'm listed as co-creator.)

1.) This one was of my earliest fanfics from when I started writing in 2010. I wrote it for lgbtfest, and it received the greatest number of comments of any story I've ever written.

2.) The original fic has Ginny drinking a "bottle of a particularly lovely Gewürtztraminer", but as it's a difficult word to pronounce if you're not a German speaker, I gave Sisi permission just to say wine instead. (Also, I did not notice until after this fic was up that she drinks wine and eats chocolate biscuits every single day for this entire week. Ha!)

3.) The most common reaction to this story was how people loved Percy. I'm actually quite proud of my ability to write Percy as a sympathetic, understandable, relatable character while still maintaining all the annoying, prickly, canon aspects of him.

Something In Him (that I simply didn't see)

1.) This is a ficlet that belongs in my Second Cup coffee shop 'verse. I fell in love with all my characters in Second Cup, but I didn't have time to flesh them out as much as I wanted to. (I'm still dying to tell Angelina/Alicia's story!) This is a prequel where Zach & Marietta sort of start to almost start something. (They're married in the original story.)

2.) There are a number of lines I love in this story. One is a description of Marietta, the girl whose glares left him breathless and whose rare smiles made him feel like his heart might explode.

3.) Written as a holiday drabbly bit for bluemermaid, who also loves the pairing. Last time I checked, we were the only two authors on AO3 who had written it!

Second Cup is Dudley/Draco, where Dudley takes a job at a wizarding coffee shop owned by Zach & Marietta. Lots of redemption, second chances, and dealing with past mistakes themes and lots and lots of coffee!
