(no subject)
why hello again livejournal, i apologize for not writing in you more recently. i do have an excuse: i am in bella Roma digging up lots of shiny things. and not so shiny, as most are dirty and at first glance boring such as brick stamps. even marble is ugly before it is washed.
i saw the harry potter movie on wednesday night. in english, with italian subtitles of course. only 2 cinemas in the whole city are showing it in english. the first and closest one was sold out. but the one on via del corso on the piazza del popolo side had tickets. seeing a large number of americans that i dont know all talking loudly at once, after being isolated except for the ones in my program since may, was a bit weird. the movie was REALLY GOOD. i think it might be my favourite of the movies so far. more thoughts on it later. i'm even more excited now about book 7 next saturday :D
today was spent sweeping and then scrubbing at the marble floor i've been working on the past few days. apart from being disgustingly hot as usual, this was really frustrating, as i kept doing the same bit and it kept getting dusty again (stupid wind and people walking past thoughtlessly). eventually i was relieved of this task and sent to prepare the area to be drawn. apart from being a marble floor there is also a filled in hole that must be documented before it can be removed to see what treasures or lack thereof are underneath. just as i had set everything up, someone else who is better at drafting than i am was assigned to do it. i was reassigned to draw a wall. which took up the rest of the day. because i am crap at such things and there were missing tools. for some unknown reason, there is now only one mallet/hammer and only large nails in the shed. and only 2 level bars could be found. and people kept "borrowing" them all afternoon. i am crap at drafting, but i am getting slightly better at it.
i am going to the vatican museums tomorrow. apparently they are massively huge. i'm excited :D
