I guess life is all about balance.
So you've got to not take it so hard when things aren't perfect.
Realize that they're better than they could be, and look forward to when they'll be amazing again.
Do that. Then look back when time has passed and I promise you'll remember how good life was. You won't remember when it wasn't. And you'll be having a good life.

The Flip side
Dwell on what bings you down. Take all the good things (especially the small insignificant ones) as nothing. Or as life's way of showing what you're missing out on when you're down. Or maybe seize the one thing that could be good, and make it your entire life. Revell in the pain you've got, and use it as a justification why you deserve that one thing, more than someone else. Do this, and you'll make yourself miserable. The people around you will try to love you and try to be there for you, but they're not going to want to be around you. You'll look forward to something unrealistic and so far in the future. Then when you realize that it's not possible you'll be back to being down. And you'll try not to remember your past. You'll just say you "had a bad year."

Have a meaningful life. It's so much better than going from low to low.
