Adventurers who reach level 90 are invited to the Tavern in the Mists to speak with the Black Prince, who shows you images of flaming green boulders raining down on Azeroth--implying the Burning Legion's return. He says he's had a vision of the coming danger, and wants the world to be prepared.
At first some might wonder if the dragon is lying in order to gain followers. We have no proof that he's actually had such a vision, and he is a black dragon, after all...
Any doubts we have are put to rest when the Black Prince meets with the Red Crane, Chi-Ji. The young prince's voice cracks with desperate terror as he describes what he saw. (Go to 2:33 in
this video.)
"Great Crane, you have not seen what I have seen. The fires that once burned the sky will return. It is inevitable. The Burning Legion will find Azeroth. Seas of blood. Cities in ruin. Who are we, one divided world, to stand against a Legion? You speak of hope. Believe me, the thinnest sliver of belief that we might somehow survive the coming devastation is all that sustains me."
The intensity of his emotion makes his usual smarmy, confident facade crack and the frightened, overwhelmed whelp break through. He is telling the truth.
So what are we to make of this? There is no precedent for an Azerothian dragon to have the powers of a seer. Was the prophecy about the Legion's return the only time Wrathion has experienced this? Or did visions guide him in other parts of his journey? If his efforts to prepare us are sufficient, will he have a second vision that is more hopeful?
He channels some kind of strange message after having a snack of Lei Shen's heart, but he doesn't remember the details afterward and it appears that whatever the heck that was, it was caused by the magic in the heart, not Wrathion's inherent powers.
It sure would be interesting if he could talk to a wise, experienced prophet for help in interpreting and dealing with his gift, ideally someone who knows about the Legion. Too bad he doesn't know anybody who could introduce him to someone like that. It's not like he hangs out with Anduin, who's studied under Velen. Oh wait! :D
Anyway, thoughts on this? Is Wrathion a true seer? How often does he have these visions? When did he have the one about the Legion: before reaching Pandaria, or after? Did a vision lead him to Pandaria in the first place? Do you think we'll be seeing more of his visions?
