WoW wishes

Nov 04, 2011 02:24

Back in October 2006 I wrote the following wishlist for World of Warcraft. I found it while looking back for another post, and I thought I should revisit it to see how many of my wishes have come true since then.

(Original list in regular text, 2011 responses in bold.)

I wish I had a lot more bank space and bigger bags.
Well, I certainly have bigger bags than I did then, that's for sure! And Void Storage is coming in the next patch, which will help the bank situation. :)

I wish we could get a relatively cheap, +25% speed mount at level 20.
Heehee, well, we get a mount at 20 but it's faster than that!

I wish for a cooking fire in the Stormwind inn by the bank.
Still no such thing, but not a big deal.

I used to wish that Onyxia spawned in her real form in Stormwind Keep instead of a lame little dragonkin, but the last patch fixed that. Yay!
Dang, I miss her and Bolvar's antics. *gives Varian the evil eye*

I wish there were blue and bronze dragon whelp pets so you could have one for each color dragonflight.
I honestly didn't even remember that there was a time before the blue whelpling pet. 0_o I still wish there was a bronze one, though!!!

I wish there was a boat from Booty Bay to Theramore, Booty Bay to Menethil, etc, and that there was actually a boat in Steamwheedle Port.
Well, Steamwheedle is now underwater, so...yeah. More boats wouldn't hurt, but with flying and portals now it's not too bad.

I wish there was more to do in Azshara.
Now there is NOTHING to do as Alliance, but the goblins have turned it into a very fun questing experience for lowbie Horde. :)

I wish you didn't have to run a dungeon dozens of times waiting for your Tier 0 set pieces to drop and never have them actually drop.
Heh, now I wish Tier 0 (a.k.a. Dungeon set 1) still existed in game! I never had much of it and I got rid of the few pieces I had a long time ago.

I wish trash mobs in MC/ZG/AQ didn't respawn. Sure more kills = more loot but it's also boring as heck to clear them out AGAIN when you just did it the night before.
Welcome to raiding, Skarlette. ;) The trash situation is much less annoying nowadays, though, with less of it, and types of mobs that stop respawning after killing certain bosses.

I wish furbolgs were playable. Ditto murlocs.
Well, Pandaren are sort of, kind of, furbolgish...I guess.
Or, I wish there was a neutral murloc faction like the Timbermaw for furbolgs that you could grind faction with for rare fishing recipes or something.
The Winterfin tribe in the Borean Tundra is sort of like that, and the Oracles are related to murlocs somehow, so...yeah.

I wish I wasn't embarrassed to dance or stand idle with my female night elf characters.
Bounce bounce bounce...what? We're supposed to be fierce warrior women? Not slutty cheerleaders? How about that? :p It doesn't bother me as much as it used to, though.

I wish there were more custom emote actions with animations and sound, like /dance and /cheer are now.
They've added /cower and /roar since then, so that's cool.

I wish boats went from Menethil to Ru'Theran without the annoying stop in Auberdine along the way.
/cry I TAKE IT BACK! I DIDN'T MEAN IT! I'M SORRY, AUBERDINE! :(

I wish I didn't have to run across the whole stinkin' city to use an anvil/forge in Orgrimmar.
Fixed! One of the things I actually like about the new design for Orgrimmar.

I wish potions stacked higher than 5.
Thank heavens, they now do!!!

I wish the Mallet of Zul'Farak, Relic Coffer Keys and other key-like items fit on my key ring.
All that's been taken care of, although I still wish they hadn't gotten rid of the key ring entirely. I was proud of my collection of keys! :\

I wish my hair didn't clip through my Arcanist Crown, making it look dorkier than it already does.
Yay, Barber shop! And yeah, I haven't worn that helm since well before TBC launched. :P

I wish griding rep didn't mean giving up so many inventory slots for bijous, coins, idols, texts, scourgestones, and other AD/CC/Zandalar items.
This is much less of a problem than it used to be, thankfully! Stupid archaeology keystones take up a lot of room, though, so it's not totally fixed.

I wish trolls could be warlocks, humans could be hunters, gnomes had a healing class, and Tauren and gnomes had more class options.
BINGO! All of the above are now possible! Ironically, I haven't actually rolled any of those combinations yet, but... Actually, wait, that's not true. I have a level 3 troll warlock and a level 6 Tauren paladin. I haven't played either one in months and probably will delete them eventually, but...yeah.

----

So overall almost all of my wishes from 2006 have come true in WoW. That's pretty cool. I wonder what my wishlist now would entail...

I wish the keystones for archaeology had their own interface instead of taking up bag space.

I wish there was a combination teleport and portal rune that worked (in different quantities) for both kinds of spells, stacking to a fairly high number, to save one bag slot.

I wish I could mail account-bound items across servers.

I wish ore, leather and cloth stacked higher than 20.

Yeah, I still want bigger bags and more bank space. :p Can't wait for void storage, though! That'll help.

I wish arcane wasn't the "best" raiding spec for mages, making me feel gimpy as fire. Some buffs are forthcoming in 4.3, though, so hopefully that'll help.

I wish the magic broom mount wasn't only active during Hallow's End.

I wish Alliance still had a town in Hillsbrad.

I wish being exalted with one faction gave you a leg up on related factions that are introduced in later content. For example, exalted with Brood of Nozdormu should give you a head start on Keepers of Time and Scale of the Sands. Exalted with Cenarion Circle should give you a head start on Cenarion Expedition. Ditto for Argent Dawn and Argent Crusade. I know it's "not fair" to newer players, but it makes no sense and it would be a nice perk for old-timers.

I wish they had at least made the Keymaster achievement into a Feat of Strength when they removed the keyring from the game. :(

I wish Wardens and Demon Hunters were playable.

I really wish tabards were selectable from a drop-down menu like titles, and didn't take up bag space.

I REALLLLLLY wish we had more than 10 character slots per server.

I have lots of lore-related wishes but that's not what the first list was about so I'll leave them out for now.
