More HBP predictions proven and debunked
I found my pre-HBP predictions over at Fiction Alley Park, and I thought I'd once again see if my powers of prognostication are better than Trelawney's...
(Original text in regular letters, today's thoughts in bold.)
1. Romance - Who will be shown on a date, snogging, engaged or married in the book?
Ron/Hermione will have their first kiss.
Er...close enough.
2. Who will die?
Dumbledore.
Major DUH.
3. Should Dumbledore trust Snape?
Yes.
I still stand by this. So there. Nyah.
4. Will Percy redeem himself?
Yes, but it may not be until book 7.
Looks like we're on our way to that one happening...
4a. Will Percy join the Death Eaters?
4b. Will Percy move back into his parents' house?
No on both accounts.
And right on both accounts, so far!
5. Will Draco redeem himself?
Also no.
Well, he's in pretty deep, so I'm technically correct. There's still hope for him in Seven, tho'.
5a. Will Draco join the Death Eaters?
No. At least, not officially. He'll continue to be on their side, but he won't take the Mark in book six.
BZZT! Wrong. ;)
6. Will Sirius re-appear, and if so, how? Ghost? Mirror? Painting? Other?
Mirror and Pensieve.
None of the above, apparently. WTF?
7. Will the Order's HQ remain at Grimmauld Place?
No.
*nods*
8. Who will be the next Minister? Arthur Weasley, Umbridge, Dumbledore, Other?
Other.
*nods more*
9. Will anyone become an animagus? If so, who?
No.
There's a nod for you.
10. What are Harry and Dumbledore doing on the front cover of the US edition?
Looking into a Pensieve.
There's another one.
11. Will we see Umbridge again?
Unfortunately, yes.
Fortunately, it was a brief cameo. :-p
12. Will Harry take Advanced Potions?
Fortunately, yes!

13. Who (if anyone) will betray Harry?
None in book six.
Assuming Snape's still on the Order's side, I was right. And even if Snape is evil, it wouldn't exactly be a betrayal since Harry's been giving him the skunk eye since Book One, thinking he was up to no good.
14. Who (if anyone) will betray the Order?
Mundungus.
Well, he's a scumball who steals from dead people and children. Other than that...not so much.
15. Is Petunia a squib?
She can't be a squib because her parents weren't a witch and wizard, as I understand the terminology. But I believe she has some latent magical ability, yes.
And we're still waiting to see how this one plays out...
16. Will Trelawney make a third prophecy?
Yes.
I guess the "lightning-struck tower" bit is a yes.
17. Will Voldemort die?
Not in book six! In seven, yes.
Duh.
18. Will Pettigrew betray Voldemort?
Yep.
Remains to be seen.
19. Who is the HBP?
Eek, I have no idea! Um...I'll go with 'the new DADA teacher.'
Well, I guess technically I was right, even if I never guessed both roles would be filled by Snape! :)
20. Make one more prediction...
Harry will not be named prefect this year, either.
Also correct.
Move over Trelawney, I've got a career in Divination! ;)
And one of these days I'll write something fascinating in here that's NOT Potter-related. I swear. >_<
