I went to the optometrist today and I'm finally getting new glasses to replace the ones in
this picture that I've had since 1998. That was the year I graduated from HS, and now 2003 is the year I graduated from college. It was time for new frames! I also needed new lenses, of course. The doc says my eyes *have* changed, but not really for the better or the worse. My astigmatism is still there, but I guess my eyeballs are squished in slightly different ways than they were before. o_0 That happens. Anyway... I picked out new frames that were a little more expensive than I had planned, but I just fell in love with them immediately. I tried on like 20 pairs, but the second pair I tried on was The Pair. The bows and nose bridge piece are shiny gold, the frame around the top of the lens is a light pewter (practically invisible) and the bottoms of the lenses have no metal around them at all--just glass. The lenses are also smaller and much more delicate-looking than the ones I have now. They're sort of a roundish oval-shape.
I also ordered custom clip-on sunglasses to go with the new glasses. I have ALWAYS wanted perscription sunglasses, but they're just too frikkin' expensive, so instead I'm going with the $22 option: custom clip-ons. They will fit perfectly over the frames, and they have little curvy clip thingies that go around the back of the lens to secure them, as opposed to those gosh-awful ugly black clips that go on the nose piece of the cheap sun shades. I've been getting those for years, and they look ugly, never fit over the lenses quite right, and scratch really easily. Plus, the cheap, crappy ones are like $10 anyway, so $22 for nice ones is certainly worth it. :) They also come in a spiffy hard black case.
After my appointment I went over to Nama's house. Originally I was supposed to help her with something that had gone haywire with her e-mail, but it fixed itself. So I did a ton of dishes instead. It's too hard for her to stand at the sink to do dishes, and they had been piling up for many days. It took like a half-hour to get them all washed, dried and put away, but she was so grateful I didn't mind. :)

Sims tonight, work tomorrow evening. Frost advisory tonight, too. o_0 MY mom's been in a whiny, bitchy mood today. I ended up cleaning the computer stand to placate her, which needed to be done anyway. ;)
