Okay, so the last thing this part of the state needed was another thunderstorm. I managed to outrun it and make it to the city just in time, but it'll be here, soon too. I was just in time. And as much as I love my little coffeeshop in town, it's nice to have a Panera to come to in the city that's anonymous. Mixes things up a little.
Oh, and something amusing. As I was driving through the raging thunderstorm to get here, I was listening to the radio, which was advertising the city fireworks tonight. (I doubt I'll go- it's in the very nastiest part of downtown to drive in, where I tend to get lost, and I'm going home to see the fireworks there soon anyways, and I'll bet they have a better show.) Anyways, the DJs kept saying "Come celebrate America with us at the fireworks!"- and then consistently played "British Invasion" pop music, usually the Beatles. I wonder if that was intentional- I could see doing that as sort of giving England the raspberry.
Also, I've just started Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes, which is probably not that good an idea as I haven't finished Perdido Street Station yet, but they're both excellent, in their way. It's a nice break from my steady diet of mysteries lately. For whatever reason, I only got four hours sleep last night, though- which at least means I'll sleep like a rock tonight.
