Don't see 'The Omen'

- If there's one thing you don't do this summer, make it that. This film was exhaustingly scary and I prayed for its end, but I guess that's the thing with horror movies- they're only good when they're thoroughly unenjoyable. In short, 'The Omen'  told the stoy of a little boy who is the spawn of Satan, and how much that sucks for everyone around him.  It was all about the anti-christ and Armageddon and Biblical prophecy- things that through years of religious instruction, I have learned to heed and fear.

'The Omen' relied on all the standard scare tactics- clashing violins and single frames of fucked-up, demonic shit, but it was the content that really freaked me out. I REALLY don't want to know which Biblical prophecies appear to be fulfilled, especially when they are illustrated with unmitigated gore (which usually doesn't bother me, but again- it depends on the subject).

If you feel like you don't have enough on your mind, and you would like to spend an evening with your heart in your throat, then go see 'The Omen'. However if you'd prefer to spend an hour and a half NOT in the grips of relentless fear, then stay home and pray.
