Okay, so I didn’t let my English paper defeat me… I think I conquered it…at least to B level…But damn, I didn’t think my major English paper would be due within the first 2 weeks of class…Totally wasn’t prepared for that. But our German presentation on the city of Chemnitz went really well, I think…I like being back in my realm of German, actually feeling kinda good after class again…I like it…
And my research group for Research Methods in Business is TERRIBLE!!! I am the most responsible one, as usual, but since this is such a major grade, I don’t think I can handle working with a group that doesn’t have their heads on straight. The class has a reputation for kicking everyone’s GPA to the curb, and I was really determined to prove him wrong, but I think I’ll have to be a dominating bitch for this to work…I don’t want to be that bitch, but I think I have to be…*sigh*
I called my mom and she said that doing the government internship would be a much wiser decision than the Orientation Coordinator…I had to pry it out of her, she really didn’t want to make my decision for me, but I really valued her opinion since she looks at employment applications every day and knows what bosses are looking for…I’m a little bummed in a way I’m not sure I can explain…but if both Jack and my mom say the government internship would be better, I'm gonna trust it…I wanted to coordinate Orientation really badly, but I guess in the long run it wouldn’t do very much for me…But still…
I went to my first Executive in Residence Board Meeting, and learned that I am basically there to be super-friendly to whomever we are hosting this year to be a guest lecturer for the Business Department…This year it’s going to be Shawn Boyer, the entrepreneur of the year that created SnagAJob.com, and he’s actually the son-in-law of the ex-acting president here at UMW, so it’ll be nice to meet him…I think I’m the most down-to-earth student on the board (there are only 3, the rest are faculty), and I’m a certified Tour Guide for the campus, so I think I’ll get some real face time with these important people…yay networking!
Oh, and I just heard that the Accounting World is changing from General Accounting Principles (GAP) to a whole new system, which means that the past year of studying Accounting will mean nothing by next year, and any desire I had to be an Accountant is basically shot, since my college Accounting education means nothing now…
I have the worst hankering to make cinnamon rolls…That will HAVE to be Saturday morning, I’m so excited to have some!!
I’m getting along with my roommate really well…she and her boyfriend are watching the Redskins game right now…it’s actually kind nice to have a roommate and her boyfriend that get along and aren’t racist elitists…and are Skins fans!!
Tomorrow when classes are over I might go to the gym, then tomorrow night there’s a small gathering at my friend’s apartment where we’re going to meet a bunch of the Korean foreign exchange girls, play games, and then go to Bingo on campus…which I cannot be more excited about…Thank goodness there’s a bingo…It’s like knowing there’s a piece of rich chocolate cake in the near future…
Then on Saturday Tom and I are going to Bangkok Café, and since we haven’t been there in a long time I’m SUPER excited…
I think my life revolves around food…And I don’t think that’s a good thing…
Ok, I’m taking this night to savor my accomplishments, so I’m getting some Nest coffee and heading to Tom’s to watch Season 4 of The Office on DVD…which, PS, if you’re an Office fan you need to watch the Deleted Scenes, because they’re currently changing my life.
Ok, more later…
