I wasn't that enamoured by The Mentalist. Don't get me wrong, I didn't dislike it and I'd happily watch it if it was on, but it didn't really grab me that much. I gave up after 3 episodes and moved on to Castle, which I loved. Nathan Fillion is hilarious of course, and I loved his mum and daughter and the detective (I'm still in that stage where I can't remember any of the characters' names. Except Castle, for obvious reasons). And of course, starting a new show just when everything else is coming back is an A++ decision! (Oh man, I just added it to my
on-my.tv and OF COURSE it's on on Monday. Why do you do this to us, networks?? There's hardly anything on on Wednesdays!) Amusingly, the same actress was in both Castle and The Mentalist as a teenage girl whose friend was murdered, and in both cases the group of friends was implemented in the murder.
My robot shoes arrived this morning and they are on my feet right now - woo! I twitpicced them
here, if by any tiny chance you are interested. I also woke up with a slightly sore throat, so they are cheering on that account too. It is only very slightly sore, but there is a cold going round at work at the moment and I'm going to
connotations on Friday - I don't want to be poorly for that! That would be rubbish. Speaking of, I'm going to try to actually go to some panels this year - some of them look pretty good. This time last year I was just getting into bandom (♥) so I spent a lot of my time reading fic and being shown stuff by
saffronra, which was glorious but not entirely the point of the weekend! Maybe we should reread that Brendon/Spencer fic we read last year,
klo_the_hobbit, just for nostalgia's sake. Or I can make you read some other gems. (Lol I say "make" like I'll have to force you. We know that's not true! :D)
Downside of connotations is the 9.30am train we're getting there: Rush hour tubes + luggage = hot and grumpy Katie. Oh well, it is a small price to pay and it's not like I'll be overly burdened with luggage. Hopefully
seiyaharris,
saffronra and
solittleshame will have a better, less stressful journey to the station than last year - I seem to remember tube closures and buses stuck in traffic, spurning frantic text message conversations. Fun times.
Simon Pegg is on Twitter now and the gems are already pouring out. His joining has also prompted me to add Nick Frost, Edgar Wright, Peter Serafinowicz (sp?) and several other people I'd been thinking about adding for a while. I need to stop adding people though, it's getting ridiculous - I'll not be able to keep up soon! At least I have a few more Britain-based people now, so the daytimes won't be so devoid of updates.
Ooh, that reminds me, it's the bad film club again on Wednesday, back from their summer break. Serafinowicz will be there, along with Graham Linehan and Robert Popper. Plus Nicko and Joe of course. Should be a top evening!
balooky is coming round for dinner tonight and I am making her cut my hair. \o/ However I have just realised that I said I would pay her in pink wine, which of course all hinges on me being allowed to buy a bottle of wine by the checkout staff in whichever supermarket I end up going to - I'll give it a try at least!
I want to watch people
lindy hop to Welcome to the Black Parade but there are region restrictions and I can never get proxies to work. :( If anyone more technically competent than me (ie most of you) can rip it, or tell me how to rip it, I will love you forever. :D? :D?
Laters, dudes.
