Move along please, nothing to see here

Hmm, so what's been happening in the life of The Katie recently? Lots and lots and nothing at all, all at the same time. The Green Wing signing has been documented, I got vampired soon after that, so yay me. My blood is especially important, apparently: good old bog standard blood they can give to loads of people. Allee-ed chez King t'other weekend and did some decorating - it's been a while since I did. One nursery nicely painted (Darren got left with the glossing, alas, but I still felt slightly useful). Also helped out at an NCT sale in a glorious yellow tabbard. It was a good look. Went to church with them on the Sunday but I think my soul is past saving. Nevertheless, I quite enjoyed it (and will probably go again if I'm around at the appropriate time), even if I was having sinful thoughts about the guy playing the guitar. See? Completely lost to the eternal fires.

Blah blah Brownie training blah blah. Tried to go to the cinema on Wednesday but The Devil Wears Prada was sold out - curses! Went back home and introduced Liss to the wonders of The Watcher with my beloved Keanu and the ever fabulous Mr James Spader. That's a weirdy film. Thursday: Exiles at the National. Very good actually, with the lovely Irish patron saint of obasc St Peter McDonald. Yum. Slightly uncomfortable seats, but we were practically on the stage. Friday at the Fire Station with the Brownies - they had a fabulous time. Most amusing was the fact that the firemen quickly cottoned on to the fact that if they put their hands up in the air the Brownies would do the same and be quiet. It's a sight that has to be seen to be believed - two large firemen waving their hands in the air at a pack of small girls.

Weekend just gone I bopped off up to the motherland (well, not quite but Leeds is fairly close) for the anniversaire of my matey Liz. I see her twice a year for parties on her birthday and new year. As a system it works well. There were to be cocktails before the going out part of the night but the cocktail book had gone missing, which was quite traumatic. People muddled through by either remembering how to make some cocktails or making them up. The Koala was born that night. It is a yellow drink that relies heavily on Sambucca in its makeup. It mings. Went out, went to the Elbow Rooms, I watched people dance and sat on a pool table for a while, kissed Liz's flatmate Paul (again), slept in his bed (again). Yay me once more. Sunday morning I helped Paul clean the house and we watched some Black Books (must buy that at some point) then I went home. The coach was stuck in a traffic jam for ages yet still managed to get in on time. I know not how.

Monday after work I took myself off to Piccadilly Circus Virgin for a Garth Marenghi's Darkpace DVD signing. I won't be back too late, I told the Squeen. I doubt there will be hundreds of people there. I was sadly mistaken. Signing started at 6 and I got to the table at 8. My feet hurt, but I did get The Book Group on the way round, which is a Good Thing. I have to go and get series 2 at some point, akshully. Shook hands with Garth himself and stared into Richard/Dean's eyes on thynk2much's orders. They are funny men. Garth put something like "Hello Katie, welcome to the Darkplace, Garth Marenghi. PS Close the door behind you" Lol. Dean put "Thanks for waiting" which I though was sweet. He also started signing whilst talking to me and *nearly* wrote Richard instead of Dean. Lol. (Backstory for the uninitiated: Garth Marenghi, Dean Lerner and Todd Rivers are all characters, but they play other characters in the series Darkplace. I'm bad at explaining, but it's very funny, trust me.) I also noticed on the way home that it says DeanVD instead of DVD. Lol. Little things.

Tuesday I got to go straight home from work and stay in all evening! It's so nice to do that occasionally! Last night was more Brownie training, with dinner at Wagamamas avec Cinnamon Owl beforehand. We're going to join the gym together and motivate each other to go. Yay us. We might do another Race for Life next year too. We got a bit carried away...

Tonight it's the theatre again (Tom & Viv at the Almeida), Brownies tomorrow, Wicked on Saturday, TORCHWOOD on Sunday (and possibly History Boys too), gym with the Jess on Monday, haircut on Tuesday - yes, I'm getting my hair cut! The last time I had it done was the day of my birthday party (8th April). That's dreadful, isn't it? Maybe the curtain of hair across my face will once again become a swooshy fringe. Who knows?

Phew! I've been a busy bee. Perhaps next year I'll have a few spare evenings and maybe, just maybe a free weekend. No, that's just me talking madness.
