Update at Crazy Farm

Jan 18, 2023 12:13

Its been awhile since I was here last. I have started and not finished several books. Writing and reading. My crew continue to keep me busy as do our animals and our farm. I did manage to knock out a few afghans in the last few years. Im getting faster at it. The latest one only took a few weeks.

I have 5 kids graduating this year and one more next year and I will have no more kids in school!! This is amazing as I never thought the day would come. Jack is going to St Scholastica after graduation. Maia has her heart set on going to Prague. Juno is not yet sure what she plans to do. Sleep probably. Ben and Andre will continue working. vague plans for post secondary education but nothing concrete. Ethan likes his job and will continue working there. He graduated last year as did Diana. Natasha graduated the year before. Diana and Natasha both work but Natasha is currently also in school to become a physical therapy assistant with a personal fitness certification. Other big plans after that but we will see.

Angus and Frasier will continue to bark and annoy the neighbors for many years to come. We still have little Maisy cat. She is so old. But very sweet, except when she is not. We also have3 other cats, Sugarbean, Thor, and Vera. Their antics and soft cute fuzzy faces are their saving grace sometimes. I have pretty much moved over to facebook and insta but wanting to feel the warmth of home over here at lj. The facebook before facebook.  I really like the feel of the keyboard vs tap tap tapping at my phone screen.  I like the more personal relationships we developed here. Facebook feels more and more impersonal all the time. I have many of my old friends from lj there but we rarely talk. Although Mardi and I talk all the time on and off facebook and insta.

Im not sure where we were when I last posted here. We moved up north to my hometown about 11 years ago. We  have begun an aquaponics business here. We grow lettuce and my husband works his day job in medicine but longs to be a full time farmer. This year the cost of electricity has tripled and we had to take the winter off. I can tell you none of us are missing those cold nights in the greenhouse. I don't mind so much in the spring summer and fall. But when its bitter cold no matter what you do its hard to stand in one spot and  process lettuce.   It has been a long process of acceptance for me. I really despised the greenhouse project for  a long time. I do enjoy most of my duties there now. but not when its freezing cold. I dont mind warm or even hot. I enjoy planting and I have found new ways to be more efficient at labeling bags for distribution. Bags used to take hours but no longer does. Planting still takes hours sometimes but thats ok because I put on my headphones and listen to music and I know no kids will come out to bug me because they hate that job and the risk of being roped into helping is too great! Secretly sometimes I just stay out there and play on my phone because its quiet and no one is needing anything from me. Shhhh. dont tell the kids that though!!

No appointments today with kids and Jack is doing afternoon school run so I am going to go get some laundry finished and start a new crochet project and hopefully finish up some sewing projects I started.
