With all the rain, I'm worrying about all the bulbs I planted last fall and the ones I planted last year like this Iris that bloomed late last September. I've also had to go out and tend to some of the young spruces whose branches were so weighted down with ice that I was afraid they would not survive the winter.

Just like the lilacs, muguets and spruces this year, the peonies are also enjoying an extended presence in my fragrant garden. The last of the bushes bloomed outside my front door last week. Their fragrance fills the house and each morning I can't wait to come down and photograph them one more time.
