I gather through fannish osmosis that the Spike Wars have broken out again and it occurred to me that they've now lasted longer than the Trojan War! Will there be a few skeletal figures clacking away at their keyboards, or the 22nd century equivalent, trying to beat the Hundred Years War I wonder

I wonder sometimes how people take the fannish privileges (let alone the real world privileges) they have so for granted. I can remember when fanfic came in zines for which one had to (shock, horror) pay, and if it was an American zine and you were in the UK a zine would cost about the same amount as a hardback book (and sometimes more).
