Sorry not to be around too much at the moment. I am reading LJ but making an entry seems to be beyond my capabilities at the moment as life has been a little fraught. My mum is still very unwell and is now in hospital, which to be frank is quite a relief. It's possible that her problems are at least partly caused by the mix of medication she's ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear about our mum but as you say - best place to sort out medications. Hopefully she'll be back out soon.

I like the Lj app for iPad. It makes the layout cleaner.

Others that are worth having are the National rail app for journey planning and Amazon, Amazon Local and eBay for shopping. The YouTube app is also very good. If you want games I'd suggest Candy Crush and Cookie jam that are suitably mindless but fun to dip into. The Podcast app also means you can subscribe to lots of fun podcasts such as "Nightvale", "There's no such thing as a fish" (QI elves) and lots of others. Of course the player apps for radio and TV are good too.

Hope that's a start!

Oh, thank you. I've got some of those but not all of them so I shall definitely check them out.

We've just been to see my mum and she's much better mentally than she's been for a while, but they are still trying to sort out her medication. At least I know that it's being given to her correctly there, rather than her taking too many of one set of tablets and not enough of another!

I'm sorry to hear your mum's poorly. Hopefully her medication will be sorted soon and she'll be back home.

Thanks :) I really wasn't sure she was taking the right tablets when left to her own devices so hopefully the hospital can sort her out.

I am sending hugs and good thoughts for your mum and your whole family.

I am sorry to hear that now you think Richard was guilty. ;)
(Hee!)

Hugs hugs.

Thanks :) We've just been to see Mum and she is much better in herself and at least her medication is being more closely monitored.

I'm afraid I am leaning further and further towards guilty!

Many hugs back :)

Aw, I'm thinking good thoughts for your mom. (And for you!) Hope you are taking good care of yourself during these stressful times.

I have LOTS of suggestions for iPad apps, but it depends on what you plan to do with yours, really, as to which you'd find useful. It's hard even to recommend game apps, because some people want to do puzzles, and some want to look at pretty graphics, and some want to shoot stuff, and some find hidden objects, etc. I like all of that. Just not in the same game. Heh. Also I'm not sure which apps are universal and which are just US. Anyway, here's the things I love most.

- Kindle app for reading
- YouTube app for obvious reasons
- Games: Kingdom Rush (and both its sequels), One Epic Knight (the commentary is HILARIOUS), Circadia, Infinity Blade 3 (you might want to start with 1 and 2), Beat Sneak Thief, Smash Hit, Monument, The Room, Spell Tower
- Index Card (to organize things when writing)
- Pages (for actual writing)
- Tumblr (for obvious reasons)
- Chrome app (I dislike Safari)

Oh, thank you. Those all sound wonderful, particularly the games. I shall definitely go and check them out and if I'm not around for a while that's what I'll be doing :)

Thanks for the good thoughts. Poor Mum has been having a horrid time recently so I was glad when they admitted her to hospital. My adult education courses have been a very relaxing distraction, though that wasn't what I was expecting when I booked them ages ago.
