Make It So or Guess Who I Saw Carrying the Olympic Torch

Today was the day the Olympic Torch came to town. I had been going to see it in the town centre but my Twittertimeline was telling me someone of interest to me was going to be carrying it on the final leg before lunch. As the torch was stopping for lunch at my nephew's school only about 100 yards away from where my brother lives I had a pretty good idea of where to stand! I don't think Duppas Hill has seen so much excitement since Queen Elizabeth I and her courtiers used to go hunting there! And here's the main event carried by someone quite recognisable.

And finally

J was quite upset when he heard that Patrick Stewart was going to be carrying the torch in Croydon as he's a huge Star Trek fan. He hadn't bothered to take the day off as the torch is going to White City and he'll see it there, but now he wishes he had!

ETA I just found this video of Patrick Stewart talking about carrying the torch. I did wonder why he was doing it on this particular leg but apparently he lives here! I'd better look out for him :)

Latest estimate is that 200,000 people watched the torch go through here. That's nearly two thirds of the population of the borough!
