Damn, damn, damn

My parents have been burgled again and this time more stuff went, including things that my mother had just had replaced by the insurance company from the last burglary, which is...interesting. Some of the things were of greater sentimental value than last time too but what I'm really most angry about is that it meant my very frail father was left ( Read more... )

Oh no, that's terrible, especially if it wasn't for the first time. I'm glad nothing happened to your parents, but still. I hope not too many things of sentimental value were stolen. :(

Many hugs for you. ♥

Unfortunately a couple of things of greater sentimental value did go than last time. Oh well, as my dad would say they're just things but it's still infuriating. My parents (and particularly my mum) really didn't need this at the moment.

Thanks for the hugs ♥

Aww, that's awful. Sending hugs for both you and your parents. I hope they're ok.

So do I. My mum sounded OK on the phone but we'll go and see them this afternoon. My mum's a former teacher and she did say she'd informed the policeman that his spelling was awful so I think she's mostly OK :)

How awful. I hope they're able to catch them this time, although I guess the prospects aren't good. :( All my sympathy and good thoughts go your parents' way.

Thanks :) I'm sure they will be grateful. Unfortunately I think the chances of catching the burglars are zero, though some of the items that went were marked :(

I'm so sorry to hear that - I was burgled a year or so ago and it is the most horrible experience. Must be so much worse for your parents when they're older and frail, though and happening for a second time. Hope they're okay.

Thanks. My mum sounded OK on the phone this morning. I think she was more cross than anything. They were burgled a year or so ago too and some of the items that went were replacements for the ones that had gone before :(

Sorry to hear you were burgled too :(

Not a nice thing to go through. It happened a couple of days before I was heading off to Australia for 5 weeks. One of my friends was a real star - told me to tell the insurance people that she was authorised by me and shooed me off on holiday. By the time I got back she had it mostly sorted! I brought her back a very nice present!

I didn't have a lot to steal, it must be said - they took my laptop, which was on its last legs - completely missed the two Radley bags hanging in the same cupboard. Took the change from my change bottle and missed the £200 of £2 coins on top of the microwave ... so they didn't get much. Worst thing was the glass all over the place from the door.

These things are sent to try us, I guess. I had just got home from visiting my friend and her husband - he had cancer and actually died a few days later - so while I was annoyed, seeing what David was going through rather put a different perspective on it.

How miserable to have it happen just before you were going on holiday. Yes, these things are definitely sent to try us but it could have been a lot worse in my parents' case. I think my mum was most annoyed by the fact that they took one of her bags to carry their loot in which she thought was adding insult to injury!

Oh no, that's just so awful! I'm so sorry. :(

Hope your parents are both okay. Having been burgled myself a number of years ago I know how traumatic it can be at any time, never mind when you're in your eighties! And to lose things of sentimental value is so upsetting.

*hugs to you all*

Thanks. More things of sentimental value went this time than last time, which is very upsetting as they were quite irreplaceable. My mum sounded OK on the phone and more cross than anything else.

Sorry about your burglary too :(
