Damn, damn, damn

My parents have been burgled again and this time more stuff went, including things that my mother had just had replaced by the insurance company from the last burglary, which is...interesting. Some of the things were of greater sentimental value than last time too but what I'm really most angry about is that it meant my very frail father was left out in the cold for quite a while because the burglars put the chain across the door. Fortunately a very kind neighbour broke in and let them in, but I hope Dad is OK.

We're going round to see them this afternoon to help clear up as we have to wait for SOCO to arrive. My dad usually takes the view that things are just that, things, and my mum who is more sentimentally attached to her possessions gets angry rather than collapsing in a heap, but it's still a nasty shock when they are in their 80s. At least this time they weren't in the house, but it was the first time they'd both been out for ages, and the house was very firmly locked. When my mum asked the policeman if there was anything they could do to stop this happening he said "absolutely nothing". Sigh...
