Wanted to post this on here, since all of my poetry will be on here instead of myspace from now on.
My head rests on your shoulder
We watch the breathing leaves
I grip your knee with my knuckles turning white
I think I'm going to die tonight
I feel my heart pounding out of my chest
It keeps stopping
But
It keeps starting again
We've been through it all
Every season, and more than one fall
We've played both parts
The angel, the devil, and the child
Always in denial
We won't wear the rose colored glasses
We have bruises and scars
We've cut away from the masses
You keep saying we'll grow out of this
If we did what would we miss?
This love is our art, it's our canvas
We view the world from here
I am feeling your heartbeat
With my head on your shoulder
This is how we'll look when we're much older
The lines of time will crease our faces
We'll talk of old times and old places
We'll marry a promise
Take our souls to the outskirts of the world
Hold hands and lose time
Count clouds and forget
It's ours in our minds but not here yet
Can I hold on for the future?
Could I just live for this moment?
I'm not done here yet
There is still love to consume
Flowers left to bloom
I'm not going on yet
We haven't even met
This hasn't begun
There's a light coming up in the far corner of the sky
It's time to brush away the night and finally say goodbye
I lift my head slowly, heavily from your shoulder
The leaves are not breathing anymore
I feel I'm alive again
A second chance
The future is ready to begin
