July Reading List

Aug 04, 2010 21:53

July was a bit better in terms of getting reading done! Here's hoping my goal keeps me moving forward in August :)

1) Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
Book 1 of The Infernal Devices ARC: Release date 8/31/10
Loved this book! I've been a fan of Cassie forever (okay, since 2002-- still! a long time), and the start of her latest series does not disappoint. It's familiar to those who've read The Mortal Instruments and will be easy to pick up for those who haven't. Plus, Victorian London! Clockwork! Two OMG *want* guys! What could be better? Um, hopefully only Book #2! ;-)

2) I Am the Sea by Stephanie Pearmain
Manuscript
Not saying too much about this one, since it's my friend's MS and I don't want to share her work out of turn, but this is a fabulous story, and I can't wait for the day everyone can pick up a copy and read it!

3) Evernight by Claudia Gray
Book 1 of the Evernight series
WHY did it take me so long to read this?!? It's fabulous! A creepy boarding school! Non-absent parents! Swoon-worthy kissing scenes! Oh, so good. I'm reading Stargazer now & can't wait to get Hourglass. SO good.

4) The DUFF (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) by Kody Keplinger
ARC: Release Date 9/7/10
Super-sexy and thought-provoking. I also find it a little ironic that I was reading this as an escape... Not sure what I mean? Guess you'll have to read the book ;-)

5) Thrice-Blessed by Jessica Spotswood
Manuscript
I'm in complete awe of my critique partner. This is such a fantastic book! And for a "messy first draft" (her words, not mine!), it doesn't read that way at all! Another book I can't wait to be released to the world at large, because it is just so freaking good. (And let me just say, she writes some of the best kissing scenes ever.)

Books read this month: 5
Books read this year: 24

Just 33 books more to reach my goal! And, judging by the stack I have here-- Linger, Perchance to Dream, Sea, Radiant Shadows... I could go on-- it shouldn't be a chore :)
