2015 Trip Day 8
Exactly one week ago and the plane on which I was travelling had finally touched down in Switzerland after that looong trip. And yet it feels like I've been travelling for seven weeks, not seven days!
So tonight I am in Fulpmes, a town at the foot of the Stubai glacier, and it seems that this place has something against me. During my first visit to Pertisau back in 2006, I was staying at the Achensee and decided to take a day trip to this region. There were so many problems with my travel that I only got here at about 5pm and had to turn around and go straight back or I would miss the last train back to Pertisau. It was frustrating but not the end of the world.
This time and I've arrived at a very quiet time of year. A lot of hotels close down for October - including the one I booked in January. Yup, no bed for me. Fortunately the hotel owner was around and was able to book me a room in another hotel that is open. They even drove me to the door. The staff at the new hotel are also excellent, which is a huge relief!
Tomorrow I'll try to go to the glacier again. Wish me luck!
