Here comes the update... two towels!!!
Thursday I was crazy sick with food poisoning. I went to work feeling a bit odd and before long I was extremely nauseous and kept throwing up. I was of course sent home and because I couldn’t drink any water or take any meds because I kept throwing up, I quickly got dehydrated and had to go to Emergency Care. A shot and an IV later and I’m just peachy. And no, it was not my own cooking that made me ill. :-)
Friday was actually a pretty good work day because it was spent installing and training on the new pyrosequencer my lab just got. It’s pretty damn sexy if I do say so myself. Yeah, I know I’m a huge dork. Anyway, what was even better is that the guy from Biotage who was running the training took out my lab for yummy Indian food at lunch time. So basically the day went by very quickly, which is always a good thing.
Saturday and Sunday were spent alone in the lab, but if it means that I get this coming Thursday and Friday off, then it was well worth it. The institute is absolutely deserted on the weekends, except for a few obsessive postdocs and some security personnel of course. The parking lots are empty and the hallways are all dark. I did have a little run-in with a security guard who thought it would be a fabulous idea to quietly walk up behind me. I happened to turn around before he could say anything, so of course upon seeing some strange guy right up in my face, I was startled and screamed. Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone jump so high in my life. Haha, I hope he learned his lesson.
I do kind of wish I had been able to go to homecoming over the weekend and see everyone. I don’t actually know how much I miss gburg, but it really looks like everyone had a lot of fun, so I’m sorry I missed out on that.
Dinner tonight should be fun. Lisa’s mom is in town until Wednesday morning and she is cooking Lisa, Kimi, Scott and I a huge pot roast dinner. A home-cooked meal cooked by someone’s mom is always awesome.
On another note, at this exact time 48 hours from now I will be picking up Nick at the airport!!! Yay!!! I can’t wait to see him and obviously I’m uber excited that I get to spend six days with him. Unfortunately work today, tomorrow, and Wednesday morning are going to drag on forever because I can’t wait for Wednesday afternoon to arrive. Umm, did I mention I’m excited??? :-)
