It's my fault. I should have been with him. And where was I? With a woman who in the end was...nothing.
The stories about Heath and me never stopped. When he finally announced his split with her, the PR people "advised" it would be worthwhile for me, Mr. Jake G., to "have a relationship".
We tried to see each other. He was hurting so much, thin and pale, worrying so hard about seeing Matilda. We agreed to wait however long it takes to be seen together again.
Yet now I still feel he'll be coming in the door, coming around the corner, driving in and staying, smiling that beautiful smile only for me; the look of love in our eyes for each other shining brightly as ever.
It's my fault. I should have been with him.
