While staying with Mum after new year we ended up going out to dinner with mum and my brother and his fiancée ended up coming too. (we did invite her, she was working but got out in time).
It's hard to find places to eat that can do both gluten free, cater to Mum's food issues (mostly FODMAPS) and be something Dave will eat. We settled on Grill'd because we don't have one out here and I enjoy their burgers and they've always been pretty good about changing stuff about for us.
We had a good meal and ended up heading over to Max Brenner's (chocolate shop) for dessert. Probably shouldn't have given the amount we ate at Grill'd.
I had a hot chocolate and strawberries with chocolate dip and Ruth had a salted caramel thickshake. Was nice but Ruth ended up feeling really ill.
We had a good time though. For some reason Mum, Sam and I ended up laughing until I couldn't breath (seriously this weird barking wheeze thing started up). Something about poo and chicken ghosts that didn't even make sense at the time. Mostly it was misheard stuff. It was the most I've interacted with Sam actually.
The next day we drove to Sydney and stayed with Lefaym. It was great to catch up with them and much fun was had even though we were both a bit vague by then. It was hot. Really hot. We went and got Sushi for dinner and watched Jayne Eyre and the next day we finally saw Frozen. Was cute.
Day after that we headed back to Ruth's mum's place before going and visiting Mandi. Mandi was really vauge, even more so than us but she was planning on moving that month and didn't have a house lined up yet and was also going overseas for a week.
Luie was doing really good. He was a lot better than last time we saw him. His dad is still being a shit but he seems to be doing better.
He loved his Spiderman blanket and spent a fair bit of the night with it wrapped around him. Great to see. It did turn out really well.
We left in the morning after not really sleeping and on the way back to Ruth's mum's place (like 10 mins down the road) the car overheated. We ended up on the side of the road with Ruth having a massive panic attack and me not doing a lot better. I had to ring Ruth's mum to see if we could get the car in at the mechanics. They were pretty full but said we could bring it in. Ruth's mum and step dad turned up with some water for us and followed us to the mechanics. (we had coolant but not water and there wasn't much point putting coolant in then given they'd be checking the system)
While there Centrelink rang Ruth to ask why she wasn't at her appointment. The one we'd actually gone in to Centrelink to change the date of. I ended up taking the phone as Ruth was still a mess and ended up sorting it out. Still haven't got a new appointment because Bathurst is booked out. I am so pissed off at how they've handled everything though.
We went back to Ruth's mum's place and slept for a long time and when we woke up Jan said that they had had to replace the water pump and the thermostat and they did all the pipes too so that everything was new. Jan paid for it. We'll have to pay her back but it made a big difference. Now the whole coolant system had been replaced so hopefully we'll not have any more issues. They said that once the radiator was working at full pressure it was too much for the original water pump.
We went shopping and were able to leave the next day, pick up the dogs and drive home.
It was a very stressful holiday and we missed out on doing some things but we got to see most people.
