A Day Late thoughts...

I wrote this at work the other day when I was bored out of my mind...

I should probably not be writing this at work...but I have nothing to do right now. Everyone in my office is gone except for the secretary, and I am finished with all of my projects, so I suppose there’s no harm in updating :)

It’s been over a month since I started this internship with UPS, and I have to admit, I kind of like it. Granted, it’s NOT what I signed up for - if someone would have told me that this job consisted of putting on an oversized neon yellow vest and measuring the parking lots of various UPS centers in boring central Illinois using an obnoxious orange wheel that was most likely sized for use by a midget, I wouldn’t have even bothered applying. Nevertheless, I’m enjoying myself! The people, for the most part, are quite fun to be around. Although I have to admit, I like the secretary the best of all. It’s all so incredibly different from last summer; that’s a good thing, I think...

Not only is the job working out, but so is living in Decatur. Everyone talks about what a hole this place is, and it’s nothing special, but it’s not THAT bad! I do everything here that I would do in Peoria, or at home for that matter. I wake up, go to work, go to the gym, watch TV, and occasionally hit the bar next door. It’s typical. Nothing special, but nothing less than what I would be doing anywhere.

Our apartment is FRICKIN AMAZING!! I have my own bathroom, two bedrooms, and a rather large living room and HUGE kitchen :) It makes Dwight, hell, it makes my own house look shabby. Unfortunately, none of us spend much time here...since Lauren is getting married, she goes home all of the time; consequently, Ryan and I also leave most every weekend. That is supposedly going to change after the wedding, which will be nice since these are really a couple of pretty cool people. We went out last weekend and had an amazing time just chatting about nothing. Lunch breaks are always fun with them, too, because we always have Bradley stuff to talk about.

Yep, it’s shaping up to be a pretty nice summer :)

All of you Kristy fans will be excited to hear that this weekend I am going to the MUNY to see Kristy Cates in Grease!! I’m soooo excited because I’ve really been missing all of my old Wicked and musical obsessions. Unfortunately, we have horrible seats because my Aunt failed to purchase tickets like she was supposed to. The theatre is open air, so I’m worried that it will be hard to hear; eh, I’ll audio it anyway :-P Anyway, my parents and I are going down to my Aunt’s on Saturday, and then meeting my cousin before the show. It should be a good time :) I haven’t seen any of them for quite a while. I miss going to my Grandma’s with everyone every few weeks like we used to. Growing up is a bitch, huh?

Then next week I am coming home on Tuesday and I don’t have to come back to work until Monday. Yay for paid holidays and personal days! I’m pretty sure I’ll be doing something with Emily, and hopefully with Shana and Joey as well. I haven’t done very well at keeping in contact with everyone from home lately. Oh hell, we all know that I don’t do very well at keeping in touch with people in general...

I’ve spent a couple weekends at Dwight this summer, which has been excellent. I miss everyone a lot...summers are hard, no matter how much fun I’m having at home. Last weekend I went down to visit Nelms. We went shopping (hard to believe, but it was actually EMILY’S idea!!!!), watched movies, played BINGO (and I WON!!!! that $50,000 is burning a hole in my pocket...), and composed a lovely medley about one of our dear friends. Sunday Geisert Brunch is amazing...everyone look for our album coming out next year ;)

I told myself I’d update more this summer...that hasn’t really happened, has it? I promise to write a review of the show this weekend, and hopefully my audio will turn out for anyone who is interested :)

It’s good to be back
-Katie :)
