Junior Year thoughts...
Well, I guess it is officially summer break...so, that means it’s time for another post reflecting the past year of school. And what a year it was. I think we all grew up a lot this past year...and not just because we could drink legally ;) This was a big year for me, anyway. I learned some pretty hard lessons, and (I suppose) I’m a better person for it. I learned that, no matter how hard I try, I don’t have everything under control...and my friends and family, hell, even people I don’t really know can tell, no matter how hard I try to hide it.
That being said, the year wasn’t just filled with hard lessons. Of course, there were PLENTY of good times to recall. A lot of first times, as well...
My first trip across the ocean (yeah London!!)
Moving into my first house
My first WINNING BID to host regionals
My first real interviews for actual internships
My first job rejection
My first internship acceptance
My first legal drink
The first projects I’ve ever actually enjoyed working on (hells yes taco bell!)
My first spring break road trip
The first time I saw RENT live :)
My first ride down a water slide with someone over the age of seven in YEARS!
My first blow job - it’s a DRINK, people!!!
My first realization that I will NEVER be perfect
Baking my first batch of cookies at Dwight, and making the house smell like gas for weeks
My first actual first date, and second date
My first slutty Halloween costume ;)
The first time a professor nearly made me cry in class since Dr. Vroman
My first solo trip to Chicago
My first drink at a bar
The first (and hopefully only) six hour meeting with SWE Regionals Exec
My first power hour!!
The first night I spent at a guy’s house
My first real heartbreak
My first major realization that I can (and do) worry my friends
My first time ice skating since I was 10
My first tube ride!
The first time I’ve ever admitted that I had a problem I couldn’t deal with alone
My first times in real dance clubs
My first keg stand - I AM A CHAMP!
My first taco bell shopping cart races
Gosh, I’m sure there’s so much more I should be writing about...this was a fantastic, hard, emotional, fun, crazy year. One thing’s for sure though, I wouldn’t have made it through without my friends. Thank you all...you have no idea how much I appreciate you guys.
Well, here’s to the summer, I guess. I move to Decatur in two days...I’m extremely excited, and scared out of my mind. A huge part of me doesn’t think I’m ready for an internship, the rest of me knows that I don’t know enough to work at an actual engineering job. I guess I have no choice in the matter.
It’s hard to believe a year has gone by so fast...perhaps I’ll wake up tomorrow and find out that summer has ended as well.
