Avigail has an audition tonight for the fall production of Frozen Jr.

, put on by the county office of education’s theatre program. The info might made it sound like she has to be really shy or really off-key to not get cast in at least the ensemble... or the preshow music and dancing performance that will likely be made up of young newbies like herself. She’s not shy... and we’ve been working on the singing. ;-)

I don’t particularly care if she gets cast or not... one less weekly activity for me to take her to if she doesn’t. From this experience I want her to: a) be brave, because she has many debilitating fears, and b) take to heart that she must prepare herself for things that aren’t sure things - and remember again that she isn’t an automatic shoo-in who doesn’t need to work hard for what she wants.

At work the other day we were asked to share in small groups about our “dearest hope.” Some group mates said that their children would grow up to be successful and/or kind. I said that my children would be “well adjusted.”

“They can be just okay people, average success, as long as they are well-adjusted,” I said, with a centering meditative hand gesture.
