Oh MAN, you guys!
I was at the gym, doing intervals on an incline (my latest favorite workout). I was increasing the incline slowly as I went - run 30 seconds, walk 30 seconds, increase the incline by 0.5 and repeat. And it was easy! I must be getting in good shape.
After 25 minutes of this tremendous failure of logic, I glanced at the row of treadmills beside me and realized that my treadmill's incline was at 0.0.
WHAT THE! I AM SO DONE WITH THIS GYM!
Treadmills keep not working right. Weight racks are largely unstocked (with no other users nearby to account for the missing weights). When my kids get sick, it tends to coincide with our latest sporadic visit to the kids zone.
It is the nearest gym to my house, and I have that psychological tendency toward loyalty to my former decision to join the gym - if by "join" I mean use the corporate membership included with the job I had and left in 2012 and have continued to pay for at the discounted corporate rate. Which may not be such a good deal anymore, by the looks of their website.
I got home and hubby said, "You know, we CAN afford the $20 a month for you to just go to Planet Fitness" (which he does). "Just go there." I go with him as his guest on Wednesday nights when the kids are at Awanas and I really like that gym! Wednesday date nights have become Wednesday gym nights, I like it so much. We usually don't even work out on adjacent machines.
I'm thinking of just cutting my current gym (In-Shape) entirely. I stay for the kids zone (which we rarely use) and the pool, but, doing research about other local gyms using In-Shape's wifi (lol), there's another gym in town which sounds, perhaps, even better for kids. They have a pool and a kids zone and ACTIVITIES.
Anyway. Grad school is wrapping up. Not much more to say there. It's funny how even people whom I have discussed grad school with numerous times forget I am going! I casually mentioned it in conversation with one such person the other day and he was like, "...wait, grad school? I didn't know you're in grad school."
In book club this week we discussed Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban! :-D Then the students watched the movie without me because I was SLAMMED with students.
But yay Harry Potter!
Fanfiction came up and SOMEHOW I revealed the website and username of my old fanfiction writing. I just googled it to see what the students may find and it's right at the top in all its glory. I clicked over to my page and, you know what? Even though it was from 2002 and 2003 and I'm in a whole different place in life right now-- I still get excited. It's still me.
Circumstances changed (BIG TIME), philosophies changed, I gave my life to Jesus - but I'm still ME.
That's what I figure with marriage. Be careful to marry a truly beautiful SOUL. They will change. A lot. But the soul remains. Who they ARE, just BEING, is what matters.
I married a beautiful soul. :) <3
