So I bought
the shoes(a), but had a few doubts about the shininess of the patent leather for shoes that I was intending to wear twice a week to work. They didn't have the regular leather version(b) in the store, but since I'd just bought a pair, I knew the exact size. Made my first purchase at Zappo. Sent the link to my sister for an opinion on shiny vs. not, and she instead sent me a link to another pair of shoes(c) that she liked better. ARGH!
The last two shots are both (c), but I wanted a picture that showed their iridescence better.
(a) and (b) are both as comfortable as 3" heels are going to get. (c) not so much, and I don't like the shape of the toe - I think it's too rounded, which reminds me of tap shoes and mary janes - but the iridescence is gorgeous. With both (a) and (c), I worry that this is too much flash for an everyday work shoe.
Funny story: Friday just before lunch, I ended up showing (a) to Evil English, who thought they were gorgeous, wondered why the hell I'd consider returning them bc they were too flashy (this IS the gal who wore dress shorts to our first meeting together), and suggested that maybe instead of returning them, could leave them on the sill of my cube as an artistic arrangement. They looked so beautiful, I almost did :) Petite Fromage and Raita (the third woman of my level in our meta-group) both expressed their admiration and Raita agreed with Evil English that I could wear them to work. It was hilarious hearing Petite Fromage refuse to be drawn into a discussion of what his minion's minion could wear to work.
So... is (c) really all that and a bag of cheddar? Can I really wear shiny shoes to work multiple days a week? Which should I keep?
Edit: I should clarify. I really really like cheese, so in the third to last sentence, what I meant was, "Is (c) insanely more awesome or merely a little nicer looking than (a) or (b)?"
