What? What do you mean I haven't updated in forever? I've been sitting here in the back THE WHOLE TIME!

jasminelily pointed out (in many caps) yesterday that it's maybe been a while since I posted. Here are my excuses:

1. Life is busy! Work is busy! I have significantly less time to post at work...though I have lots of time for Google Reader? I don't know. I like to be not-interrupted when I'm trying to type a post that makes sense. Or something. (That said, this post took two hours.)

2. I was in that mode where I haven't posted in ages and so starting back up again was all intimidating. Lots has happened!

3. Along with the life-is-busy excuse, and the following no-time-to-update-at-work, Alex is in the middle of a super-hard semester of school, so our computer at home is in use often.

Okay, the excuses are done now!

Here are some things that have been happening:

1. Alex IS in school. Jasmine mentioned that she didn't know that. Did you know that? Have I mentioned that? He went back to school last January, during his unemployment, and is a little over halfway to an Associates in IT. He's doing online classes through University of Phoenix and is working his ass off. I'm really proud of him, especially because he's on his second term of math and wanting to die. Who can blame him, really?

2. Leslie is coming! This is the first year in many that we haven't spent Casimir Pulaski Day together, so instead, she's coming for a few days during her Spring Break. Therefore, instead of spending a random holiday for a Polish man together, we'll be kickin' it on a random holiday for a Mexican man (I have the 30th off). AND she'll be coming in the day after Stroke Day, which is only appropriate, since it was right before her visit in 2006 that I developed the Cold Of DEATH which apparently led to all the dramaz. (This just led to a jaunt through my LJ posts from that time, including my original phone post, which I don't think I'd ever listened to. I sure can ramble, can't I? keenai, I do not even blame you for not transcribing the whole damn thing.)

3. I have been listening to much good music lately - I love the new Kelly, the new Mandy Moore single is fun, and I'm getting more and more obsessed with Lily Allen by the day. Sadly, however, I can listen to NONE of that, since my iPod is at home. Along with my house keys and my wallet. I am a champ, really.

4. missmp and I just discovered Christopher Walken's Twitter. It is amazing.

Twice I've found spent adult diapers on the curb this week. It's either opossums or Abe Vigoda. I'm setting my alarm tomorrow so I'll know.

I posed for dozens of photos in California last week. I closed my eyes or made a face in nearly every one. Sorry. I amuse myself this way.

Someone commended me for being "approachable." Okay. The truth is that I'm easily distracted and don't notice people touching me right away.

Also, did you know you can follow Twitters on Google Reader without joining? IT IS TRUE. I am following Lily Allen and Mandy Moore and Stephen Fry (of course, I believe it's required) and now Walken, obvs. I kind of want to be his best friend.

Okay, I've just been rambling, because...I don't know why. But I've been avoiding the Biggest News Of All. Which is that we're making an offer on a house! TODAY!

This is all my uncle Steve's fault, really. Back when we saw him at the cabin after Christmas, he said goodbye like this: "Great to see you. Travel safe. Buy a house." And that got us thinking - you know, why NOT? Now's a great time, right?

So we got back to Denver and talked to our only friends who are homeowners (Chris and Larry) and got in touch with their realtor, who they love, and we met with him and he hooked us up with a money guy and we got pre-approved (and hey, Alex has awesome credit, so yay him) and we went out and looked a few times and now have tag-team realtors (Dan, Realtor Original Flavor, is going back to school, so we've also been working with Geoff) and we found a place that we love and I did our taxes and we have a down payment and...well, here we are!

We had much debate about this house and another one. The other one has hardwoods, a gorgeous yard, washer/dryer already in-house, and lots of charm. This one has a third bedroom, a fully finished basement, and a garage. Also, cheaper. It has a big yard, but there's LOTS of work to do, and it's slightly more generic.

BUT. More space wins, and the more we've thought about it, the more excited we get.

What? You want to see pictures? Oh, okay.

We're meeting with Dan tonight to sign some stuff, and then it's offering time. YAY HOLY SHIT.

Wheeeeeee life!

alex, work, the great health crisis of 2006, teh internets, house, real life omg
