Some Random Pop Culture Stuff

1. SO MUCH NEW MUSIC ZOMG. Next week brings new albums by The Weepies and Atmosphere, then the following week is new Madonna AND NEW PORTISHEAD WHEEEE. Plus, Cyndi Lauper, Alkaline Trio and Anna Nalick all have new albums out this summer, and I know I'm forgetting people. AND I picked up a bunch of chick music yesterday - Kate Nash and Sara Bareilles (which I'd procured through other means, but then had guilt about) and Marie Digby - so I am just rolling in fantastic music. I am happyKate.

2. (I also may or may not be secretly listening to the new Ashlee Simpson. I refuse to answer on the grounds that it will make me look even less cool than you think I am.)

3. Not only is there so much new music to be excited about, there are ALSO many exciting movies coming up. Alex is attempting to procure passes for us to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall tomorrow night, Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay is NEXT WEEK, plus all the super-fun BIG SUMMER MOVIES. I am sad that I have to wait all the way until AUGUST for the new Traveling Pants flick, though. Woe.

4. AND THERE IS NEW TV, TOO. Obvs, HIMYM is back and being amazing, and next week should be LEGENDARY. New Gossip Girl next week, Bones this week, and the amazing Thursday trifecta of Grey's/Ugly Betty/Lost starts on the 24th. The squee is plentiful 'round my house.

5. Because there's so much new music coming out, there are also many shows to attend. I'm seeing The Swell Season in a couple of weeks at this fancy place, and then Alex and I are seeing Atmosphere TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW in May. We are freaks, but I don't care. I'm also going to try my damndest to figure out a way for me to see Kate Nash in Boulder, convince Alex to hit up one day of the Mile High Music Festival (Ingrid Michaelson! The Roots! Flobots! Flogging Molly!), and stalk the Tour pages of any number of other artists. Oh music, how I love you so.

Suddenly it's lunchtime and I am starving, so off I go. Since I'm killing time between EXCITING MUSIC RELEASES, perhaps I'll stop in Tattered Cover and get a new book...
