Tea and fried

I went out for tea last night with Mandy (if you've been reading my journal for long enough, you'll recognize her as one of my compatriots from the lab I used to work in). We had a great time sipping tea (even though I burned my mouth on it) and catching up on stuff. :)

Afterward I walked home, thinking about stuff I'll probably put in a separate post.

About 10 minutes after I got home, Chuck and Heather showed up with my shoes and Jon's shot glasses, and also the key to their apartment so we can check up on their cat. Chuck walked in, poured himself some whiskey, took off his coat, and plopped down on the couch like he owned the place, it was really funny. :) We chatted for a bit, and they headed out.

Then I got it in my head to try and make fried mozzarella. I had gotten this GF "Golden Coating" stuff for fried, and so I tried it out. Didn't work so well until Jon came home with eggs. Then it worked swimmingly. It was a little overseasoned for fried mozz, but good! I might try with my "Magic Flour Powder", as Mandy called my all purpose gluten-free flour, hehe. I told her I was going to have to start using that. :)

Then I got the idea to make fried pickles, and we were both very happy with this. :) In fact, I did a little dance.

I can have fried again! Yay!
