This is a timeline of important events which ocurred in the years in which members of Alderford are now living. As such, it probably won't be all that interesting to many of you, but it is to me. ;-)

690 Wihtred, King of Kent (-725)

1006 Rudolph III of Burgundy appoints Henry II his heir.
Robert II of France allies himself with Henry II against Baldwin of Flanders.

1070 Rising in Ely under Hereward

1112 Henry V excommunicated by the Synod of Vienne

1220 The first giraffes are shown in Europe

1368 Timur ascends the throne of Samarkand (-1405)

1423 James I of Scotland released by the English

1480 Leonardo da Vinci invents parachute

1490 First beginning of ballet at Italian courts

1500 Columbus arrested, put in irons, brought to Spain, and rehabilitated

1506 George Buchanan, Scottish humanist, b. (d. 1582)

1521 Manufacture of silk introduced to France

1580 English folk tune "Greensleeves" mentioned for first time
