it's not relief, it's something else (open to coffee_cult)

Doctor.

There had not been many moments past that one spoken word that carried the hope of an entire planet. The countdown had started and millions of people had banded together in hope to say that one small word in the belief that it would save them. It had and everything reversed itself, everything but the memories.

With a sharply exhaled breath, Kate opens her eyes and confusion sets in. This is not the piazza that was just in. It takes her a few moments to realize that she is in Ianto’s quarters. It’s a trick. It must be.

The facility beneath the Thames had been abandoned. What is she doing here now? Kate sits on the bed and stares wide-eyed at her surroundings. This room doesn’t seem so bleak. There is not the stench of death and dying.

She is on the verge of having a minor meltdown when she feels something kick. Kate looks down and stares, not in relief, but in horror at her belly. She is pregnant again. It’s a trick. The Master was responsible for this. It could be the only explanation.

Her body trembling, Kate rises from the bed and makes her way to the door. She walks through Ianto’s office and into the main part of the Hub. She recognizes people that she herself witnessed dying. It is a cruel trick to play. “It’s a trick.” She says out loud looking very much like a deer that has been caught in someone’s headlights.
