Author Notes: [master post] | Chapter Two

Alex shuffled out of William's rather large bed, being very careful not to wake his boyfriend. He grabbed one of William's shirts and pulled on fresh jeans before scraping down a quick breakfast of toast, and toast alone, in the small kitchen. Alex turned on his phone & tossed it onto the couch, so it could buzz with all the messages his parents - and probably Jack too - had left him over the night. He flipped on the television & turned on the coffee pot for William. Alex checked the clock and groaned at the time; stupid school with its stupid early classes.

"Alex?"

"In here, Bill."

"You were going to leave without saying goodbye?" William pouted. Alex rolled his eyes & laced his fingers with William's as he sat beside him at the counter.

"I would have kissed you before I left," Alex assured him.

"Well, you can kiss me now," William offered mock innocently. Alex grinned and moved his hands to William's waist, pulling the taller boy into him & pressing their lips together lovingly. William smiled against Alex’s lips before biting his lower lip lightly. Alex moaned softly as he pulled away.

"Now, don't go doing that. I have to leave soon." William scrunched his face up in clear distaste for the idea. Alex sighed & brought his arms up to wrap them around William's neck. "I'll be back soon," he promised. William nuzzled his face into Alex's neck and nodded slightly.

"You better be," his muffled voice vibrated against Alex's neck.

Woof! Woof!

"Damn boxer," Alex grumbled.

"Hey." William lifted his head to glare at Alex, "Don't be mean to Skep." Alex smiled amusedly at Will's seriousness.

"Still can't believe you named the dog Skepticism," he mumbled.

"Whatever, you like it," William called behind him as he went to let Skepticism out of the bedroom. Alex rolled his eyes & checked the clock.

"Hey, babe; I got to get going. The coffee pot & the news are already on. I'll call you at lunch, alright?"

"You take such great care of me," William replied, sauntering back into the room.

"I try," Alex smiled, reaching down to pet the striped boxer's head before leaning over to kiss William quickly. "Lunch, okay?"

"Talk to you then," William called after him. Alex stopped just outside the door. He had his backpack, his spirals, and a few spare pens. What had he forgotten? "Alex, your pho-" William shouted, swinging the door open in a hurry. "Oh, hey," he smiled sheepishly.

Alex took the phone gratefully, "Oh, yeah. Thanks." He pecked a quick kiss to William's cheek, "See you, babe." William smiled after his boyfriend & watched Skep scurry towards the stairs after Alex. He went in, changed quickly, and joined the dog back at the railway before leading him down the stairs to the court yard. Alex was long gone by then, though.

Alex drove the five minutes to school in three. He stole a spot in the lunch yard & dropped his bags to check his phone.

Four new text messages.
Eleven missed calls.
Three voicemails.

Alex deleted the messages, knowing they were pointless shout outs from Jack, and all but one of the missed calls was from his parents.

"First unheard message: Alex, honey, it's almost eleven & we've not heard from you.
Second unheard message: Alexander, if you're not home by midnight, you're grounded! Again!
Last unheard message: Hi, Alex! It's Jack. I guess you're at Bilvy's. Tell him I said hi? I'll see you in the morning. We have Chem. Together; bleb. Love ya, bye." Mom, Dad, Jack; the same people Alex heard from every morning after he stayed at William's.

They think Alex is out partying, popping pills, and getting high - not to mention, sleeping with every willing girl around - but, in reality, he was at home - what he calls his home is William’s place - and in a perfectly amazing, healthy relationship. His parent’s just don’t know that.

“Alexander!”

“Jack-o!” he called back as his black-haired best friend, only friend, sat down beside him.

“How’s Bilvy?”

“Lonely, I’m sure,” Alex joked. Jack smiled & grabbed Alex’s wrist, checking the time.

Jack whined, “I don’t wanna go to English!”

“Come on, B-kat. It’s our senior year. We can survive it, I’m sure.”

"Whatever," Jack grumbled. Alex stood, grabbed his bag, & pulled Jack up behind him.

"Come on," Alex groaned. Jack obliged & they headed inside. "Uh, bathroom, then class," Alex mumbled to Jack as they neared the first floor, left wing bathroom. "See you after?"

"Yea, we've got Chem.," he mumbled back as Alex headed for the aforementioned restroom. He went to wash his hands & turned around to see a kid he recognized and knew was a senior too but didn't know his name or who he actually was.

"Gaskarth?" he was trying to be tough.

"Last time I checked," Alex replied confidently, drying his hands.

"I need your help." Alex wasn't exactly sure how he was supposed to react to this. The last three years he's been completely isolated & protected from everything & everyone because he had William. No one gave them bullshit about being gay because William was friends with everyone, and no one said shit to him. Though, in middle school, Alex did help people out, a lot.

Alex replied slowly, "I can't promise anything."

"Someone stole my bike."

Alex couldn't resist a joke on the mean looking guy, "Your tricycle?" Tough guy glared.

"Could you just find out who it was?" he snapped.

"Probably; meet me at lunch," Alex called behind him as he left the bathroom. History passed quickly, Chemistry was full of Jack talking, and talking, and talking.

"Jack, stop talking!" the new teacher hissed. Alex bit back a laugh as he scribbled down the notes.

Bring!

Jack shouted in triumph, "Finally!"

"Jack, it's been a total of three minutes since you last spoke," Alex laughed. Jack shrugged & continued his ramblings.

"So, the new English teacher was so boring. I almost flipped a shit when he woke me up because, really? You know I don't get any sleep at night. I mean, he doesn't know that but he could of guessed. Why else would I have been sleeping? Oh, how was History? I can't believe I haven't asked you that. What the hell, man? You're s'posed to remind me about that stuff."

"Jack," Alex stopped him. "I need to make a call, and then I'm meeting someone. I'll find you in a bit, okay?"

Jack's mood seemed to fall a bit, "Yea, sure. Alright, see ya!" He bounded off towards the lunch room, waving a hand behind him. Alex only felt a little bad from blowing Jack off. Jack had other friends here, unlike Alex, so it wasn't as terrible, he supposes.

"Hey, William," Alex practically purred into his phone.

"Alexander, I do believe phone sex is not allowed on school property," William mock scolded. Alex grinned as he turned a corner & took a seat against the wall of the empty hallway.

"So, this guy caught me in the bathroom today . . ."

"Alex! Jacking off in school again?!"

"Huh-ho, you're funny," Alex said dripping with sarcasm. He could practically hear William's grin.

"So, what happened?"

"Someone stole his bike; I'm meeting him after this."

"You only have English after lunch?"

"You memorized my schedule?"

"Maybe."

"Then, maybe."

Will laughed a bit at Alex's teasing, "I'd kiss you right now if I were there."

"I'd kiss you back," Alex smiled.

William teased, "You better." Alex looked up & saw the guy from earlier nearby.

"Hey, I got to go. I'll kiss you when I get home. Bye, hun."

"Bye," William said, almost wistfully. Alex hung up & jogged towards the guy.

"Hey . . .”

"Rian, I'm Rian."

"Rian, right; so, when's the last time you saw your bike?" Alex asked all the required questions, he got the info, and even finished in time to head back & finish eating lunch with Jack.

"Good luck in English, bro!" Jack laughed.

"Whatever, man. It won't even be that bad. I'm not the one sleeping all through class."

"Well, maybe, if you'd call me back once in a while, I wouldn't stay up all night worrying about the state of your being."

Alex laughed, "Don't even try to lie and the state of my being is very well, thank you." Jack shoved him away playfully.

"Have fun, dude." Jack headed off towards History while Alex went to English; stupid English keeping him from his amazing William.
