Going Home, and quick news.

Jun 10, 2008 18:40

I just bought a plane ticket home, which is a disorienting thought. In exactly a month, in the evening, I'll be back in PDX. Can someone pick me up from the airport?

Itinerary in a nutshell: July 8, morning, Athens --> Milan, arriving around noon. Train ride to Rome, arriving around 5. Cannot get my annoying baggage until the next day (sigh), which means I'll have to spend one full day in Rome because of the flight times. Flight from Rome to Dulles Internation in DC on July 10 at 10:30 in the morning; flight from Dulles to PDX at 6:15 in the evening, arriving in PDX at 8:53PM on July 10.

Life continues to be excellent. There are three different, large, in-situ skull fragments in my loculus now, which (hopefully) I'll be able to remove tomorrow and finish the loculus. I still love working in the tombs, but I'm sick of only being able to excavate while balanced on my stomach with my feet in the air, as though constantly frozen partway through the process of diving headfirst into the grave.

Hopefully my cell phone will start working again soon. I have no idea what's going on with it, but appreciate any and all communication efforts.

Must run. Much love.

(Oh, also: we felt the earthquake, but just gently, as though the whole world were rumbling and swaying gently for a long ten seconds. All is well here.)
