We'd known each other for years.  Decades really.

It'd gone from co-workers to friends.  From nights out after work to talking about kids and schools and getting old.

I didn't think anything of it when I asked him to work on a project for work and he asked if I wanted to go with him on it.

I didn't really need to, but it sounded fun to get out ( Read more... )

Sadly, this brings up a "me too" moment. My story is a bit different. I was in college, and this guy and I had both been in a drum and bugle corps for a couple years together, during which time I was dating the drum major. It was my freshman year in college, and I wasn't allowed to have a car on campus. We'd both been home for the weekend for a drum corps event, and he was attending a university not too far from mine, so he offered to give me a ride to my campus, since the drum major wasn't able to. I'd been on friendly terms with this guy, but definitely never flirtatious. In fact, he wasn't one of the guys in the drum corps that I talked to an awful lot, though everyone was friendly in the corps. We spent most of the trip talking about how roads are designed (he was going to school to be an engineer), and because of the association, I've never been able to forget that they have a slight rise in the middle of the road so that the water runs off the sides.

As we approached my dorm, it had grown dark and we both got a little quiet. Then, out of nowhere, he told me that he liked these rainbow dolphin shorts that I liked to wear because they were bright and colorful. He told me that my butt looked good in them. My face reddened and burned, and I shrunk down in my seat. What follows that is a bit of a blur, but I'm pretty sure he leaned towards me -- maybe to try to kiss me -- when I got out of the car at my dorm. I said, "Bye," quickly and slammed the door, walking briskly towards my dorm and hoping he wouldn't try to catch up with me. It was only then that I thought about what a big guy he was and how, if he'd wanted to....

I never wore those shorts again.
