Long Term Service Breakfast

Oct 03, 2017 23:02

Today was the Med School’s Long Term Service Breakfast held at the  Child STudy  Center .  A fairly  large delegation from the office went.  It was a buffet of all breakfast stuff.  Muffins, doughnuts, bagels, etc.  THis was a big challenge for me as Courtney asked me to snap a picture of the buffet and show her what I was going to be facing.  SHe would be there via text to help me choose even though we went over the list  at our last visit.  WE will discuss it at our session tomorrow.  It was  a continental breakfast and there were many there who were less than appreciative for it.    Throughout the day i heard many times they were expecting pancakes, sausage, bacon.  I was not only getting annoyed but disgusted because well... They didn’t have to do this.  You want a full on breakfast?  Go to a restaurant.

I wore  my black and blue floral dress .  Even though it was  cool temperatures.  I expected the  temperatures to go up later.   I felt really good and chilled by the time I arrived to the office.  I received many compliments.    I was the only one there for the 25th.  Again many were not invited but i think it had to do with how their anniversaries fell.  Some didn’t get invited.  Do I need to tell you some people bitched about that too?

The rest of the day was spent on mail the readdress mail took a lot of time and energy and  I wasn’t able to finish the regular mail (I don’t usually on Tuesday lately anyway) .  It will be done tomorrow.  I feel as though I didn’t get a whole lot done.  Again.

Today was also looking back over the years as Yale Medicine celebrated an anniversary of its own.  The many inceptions of our department from OPS, PFS, PFAS, and Yale Medical Group to Yale Medicine.  There were many people that came to work.  SR has been working on a project of sorts that will be done in pictures (I am hoping she will display it somewhere)  There were pictures of us celebrating holidays, milestones, and of course retirements.    There was soo many and in some of them  we noticed we hadn’t changed much.  Some of us did  but not all.

Earlier this week I decided that I would indeed go to Terri’s Retirement party next Thursday.  I have worked with her for all these years and she has been a good friend to me through it all.  I could go to her and talk to her about anything.

I did attend the weekly committee meeting.  The unions are having  membership drives.  Encouraging people to get active in the union.  Local 33 is going to be preparing for more members to join (including more departments to register).  Hopefully they are a little more successful in their goals then they were last year.

Tonight was the ladies guild board meeting and I was late (go figure).  We are preparing for our ladies guild Tea next week and the two new parish priests will be attending and main speakers.  It will also the night where I will finish the search for the rest of the nominating committee for next years officers election.  I will have to walk around and get people to volunteer for this.  I asked people there for advice and they gave it to me.  I need a couple of things before the nominating committee starts to meet.  I asked when is a good time to schedule meetings.  SB said the dead of winter.

I also volunteered to be in charge of the auction tickets (assigning the books to all those who sell them and take the final money.  It's just like I did last year.    We will be selling them at the coffee and ...sessions after  the november 5 masses .   It should be fun.  I am worried about the  whole  Nominating committee thing though.

I drove by the Campaign headquarters a couple of times this week and both times it was dark and empty.  I find this disconcerting  but apparently people  have been there doing the lawn signs and working at the palace.  Just not me.  On the weekends I need to concentrate on cooking and other things.  We were told that if we want to come down and volunteer we need to call.     One of the candidates posted that  someone destroyed signs on his mother’s lawn recently and asked people not to do that.  People suggested t

I don’t remember if I  mentioned yesterday that I received an invite to a campaign fundraiser.  It's going to be held at the bridgehouse restaurant on Wednesday.  That’s good because I was afraid it would conflict with the retirement party I am going to.  But as I said this and district meetings are all I have done this year.

I heard from Dr. T last week.  She was wondering if Had received any more bank statements for the club. Surprisingly I haven’t in what seems like a few months.  The ones I do have I need to take them to her husband so he can bring them with him to Florida in a week  when he goes for a visit.  I  have to make some time to do that in the next couple of days.

I am still waiting for the DMV to send me the Title to the 2002 car.  I really wish they would send it.  So I can send it on to  the Insurance company.  I actually got something from the financing company today.  It was about privacy.  When I saw it I thought it was a statement already.

I haven’t heard from anyone in the penpal world since Sunday.    I was going to  reply to a couple of emails but I am starting to fall asleep while writing so it will have  to wait until tomorrow.  I am planning another volley of update letters to the rest of my pals.  To see if they want to continue or not.

I had more of the stew today..it was a little watery from freezing.  I may have to add something to make it thicker.  I still want to try the other stew that had wine in the recipe.  However, Kim suggested I use beef broth instead.  I also found a couple of wonderful Roast Beef recipes that I am anxious to try.  One you have to sear before putting in the cooker and the other you don’t.

Tiger is sitting beside me on the sofa again.  I am hoping she will join us for a third night in a row.  When I got up this morning at 5:30 she had already left...Sky waited for me.   I have a feeling sky is in the printer room.

Finally I am so excited to welcome back hawk_soaring  to the blogosphere.  She has been missed.

Good night all.
