Lucksmiths part duex

I just got back from seeing The Lucksmiths in Santa Barbara and I think I can die happy now. It was a great show, in a great little coffee shop, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Crappy cell phone, as always. You may not know this, but my cell phone actually takes better pictures than my current digital camera, which I love to pieces but I think I dropped on the floor one (or two or three or four) too many times.

The irony is that one of these pictures, and the picture I posted from their gig last night, was taken during the song "Camera Shy", which they played at both shows. "So if it's not too much to ask, let's just let the moment pass, I've no wish to be reminded, of just how awkward I can be, please don't point that thing at me, your eyes are widening behind it."

Because I know you all care, I'm going to do a Nick Hornby-inspired Lucksmiths post tomorrow. On the drive home I had ample time to reflect on the way The Lucksmiths have truly been the soundtrack to my life in a way no other band has. So I'm going to inflict that upon ya'll ;)

Speaking of the Santa Barbara gig (Sorry you couldn't make it Kathie!! Hope you're feeling better) I could have stayed longer and hung out for a while, but I'm running on three hours sleep and I didn't want to risk the drive back any later than possible. I literally could not sleep at all last night - I think I was too keyed up.

The super exciting part about the gig tonight was that I finally got the courage to go up to a few of the band members and tell them how much I enjoy their music. I spoke to Marty and the newer player, Louis, at the bar and told them how great they were and how I've been listening to them for 7+ yrs and I was so excited to finally see them live. They said thanks and all that. Then I spoke to Tali (lead singer and drums, and also the lead singer for The Guild League). I told him I was from Florida and that they should tour there, and he mentioned how it wasn't really feasible since they only have two weeks to squeeze the whole US into, but that he hears that a lot when he's in the US. I repeated my "I'm so happy to finally hear you guys!" story and he said thanks, and I had him sign my "Spring a Leak" postcard. He signed it "Go Florida! Thanks Katrina, heart Tali." So of course I told him that the whole reason I first heard of them was because they put my name in a song title. I didn't want to creep him out by telling him that I listen to "Birthday Present for Katrina" on my birthday every year....

Ok, I'm hoping that now that I got this out of my system I can crash. I feel the exhaustion creeping in, but I'm still buzzed.
