The Feds have shut down Megaupload and various other sites for piracy. Quite aside from the fact that some of us use said sites for entirely legit purposes and, yes, they're used for all kinds of questionable activity as well, this is utter shit of the sort that really just frosts my nuts ovaries
What gives, shutting down a legitimate site because a PORTION of its users engage in quasi-legal activities on it? Because, last I checked, file sharing that isn't for profit is still kinda sorta protected (and, if I'm wrong, it totally should be). Especially when I know plenty of people who use Megaupload and similar sites to share completely original intellectual property.
What's next? Youtube? Fanfiction.net? Wikipedia?
