You know it's time to take a break
from moving, when you talk to your sister on the phone and she tells you in a serious tone, "Don't give yourself an asthma attack."
So this is me taking a break from running things over to the new apartment, lol. I'll do another car-load or two once it gets dark. Heather is bringing over the truck tomorrow so we can get the bulk of my things moved over and, since I haven't exactly arranged for new internet yet (don't look at me like that; I thought the actual move wasn't coming until this weekend), I may not be online for a day or two. We'll have to see. I'm going to try to see if I can't get a service appointment for tomorrow evening or Wednesday morning. Or, you know, I can always hang out here with my laptop even if there's no furniture :D
I got pictures of the place empty but am too sore to putz around with posting right now so I'll do that later. I think I'm going to be planting a lot of hosta outside (low-maintenance ftw). My little patio is nice and shady so it'll be nice to sit out there. It's really quiet and nice there although the neighbor's terrier doesn't seem entirely reconciled to my presence yet. It'll learn (or I'll buy one of those ultra-sonic bark deterrent devices I've seen advertised).
I will not be bringing Billy with me to the new apartment. He's really frightened of all humans still and a little mouser through and through so trying to turn him into a house pet would just be cruel and stressful for him. He'll be joining Heather's other barn cats once he's old enough and I'll be adopting his sister (the other survivor of the litter) instead. She's a gorgeous, playful little Siamese with a toe fetish. I'll be posting pictures of her eventually, too (3/4 of the ones I managed to get of her also feature my toes which she's chewing or licking -- every picture I've gotten of Billy to date features him backing away and/or hissing in warning). Her name hasn't presented itself to me clearly yet (I hadn't gotten to know her very well because I thought one of Heather's customers was going to be adopting her so I'm a little behind on that) but she may be Yang. Jamie appeals, too. So, yeah, not fandom names. Sue me ;p
Okay, I'm off again to do a little more packing before I make another run or two to the new apartment. Hope everyone's doing well *hugs you all* Laterz
