Playing With Your Element
For aimaw

“Where is he?” Sungmin asked, eyes narrowed.

“Uh,” Eunhyuk blinked in confusion.

Kibum smiled and moved his piece on the game board that he and Donghae were currently using. “In his room,” he said calmly.

Sungmin turned without another word and stormed down the hall towards his Weaver’s room, ignoring Donghae’s laugh as he did so. Kyuhyun’s door, when Sungmin reached it, was standing wide open. He stopped in the doorway and glared at the figure sitting on the bed. Beside Kyuhyun, Shindong sat with a game console matching Kyuhyun’s in his hands. “Didn’t you see my message?” Sungmin asked darkly. Kyuhyun nudged a crumpled piece of paper with his toe and didn’t look up from his game. “And you decided not to show up? We need to explore the differences in our abilities.”

Kyuhyun shrugged.

Sungmin glared. “You are driving me crazy Mr. Super Genius Strategizes. One minute you are all about this battle preparation thing and the next you are sitting here playing your dumb games.” Sungmin stepped forward, fully intent on dragging Kyuhyun outside and ran, face first, into an invisible wall. “What the hell!” he growled, stepping back and rubbing his nose. A small smiled tugged at the corner of Kyuhyun’s mouth. “Kyuhyun! Did you just block the entrance of your room?!”

“No,” he answered immediately.

Sungmin swung forward with his knuckles and as he expected he hit the invisible wall. “Then what would you call this.”

“An opportunity for you to cool your temper before we have a face to face conversation,” he replied calmly. “You can get to me, you will just have to find out how.”

Sungmin blinked. “You created a maze for me to go through to get to you.”

Kyuhyun nodded. “Very good.”

Sungmin glared. “Not going to happen.” He turned and took a step back towards the door. “A second later he ran into another wall. “Let me out.”

“But you wanted me to experiment with my abilities,” Kyuhyun said, his voice dripping with false sweetness.

“Fine,” Sungmin agreed. It wasn’t as though he could go anywhere else at the moment.

It took him two minutes to discover the first turn in the maze and yet another minute to devise a way to advance that didn’t leave him smacking his nose every minute or so. Even with his strategy he was only to the center of the room five minutes later and he had no way of knowing if the maze would double back on itself or change entirely for that matter.

“I’m not moving the walls,” Kyuhyun said casually as if he could read Sungmin’s mind.

Sungmin scowled. It wasn’t like Kyuhyun need to move the walls anyway. With them being invisible, it was incredibly hard to remember where he had been. If he took a wrong turn, which he often did, and ended up down a dead end, retracing his steps to the right path was nearly impossible.

He stepped into a spot that he was fairly certain he been in several times already when he got an idea. Kyuhyun hadn’t said anything about not calling for help. Yesung answered his call with a laugh and then hung up the phone. Kangin pretended to be sympathetic for all of a minute before telling him he had made his own bed and he would have to lie in it. Donghae didn’t even answer his phone, Kibum answered it for him and Sungmin knew he had no prayer of convincing him to help if he didn’t want to. He didn’t even bother calling Heechul.

“That worked well,” Kyuhyun commented as Sungmin slipped the phone back into his pocket.

“Shut up,” Sungmin warned. It would be easier if he could mark the walls in some way, but how exactly was he supposed to mark the air. “Give me my fan,” he demanded.

“What for? They won’t do you any good,” Kyuhyun asked with a curiously raised eyebrow.

“Just do it.”

Kyuhyun shrugged and a second later Sungmin felt the gentle tug on his Song. He let it go to his Weaver and smiled as a moment later his fans appeared in his hands. Sungmin set one on the floor and lifted the other. He slid his finger across the sharp blade. The metal parted the skin easily and Sungmin smiled as he watched Kyuhyun shift with surprise.

This time when he moved forward he squeezed drops of blood out onto the floor behind him, leaving a trail to show him the way back. It took all of one second for Kyuhyun to climb of the bed and move to the bathroom. A moment later he was walking through his own maze, the walls dissolving around him with slight puffs of air.

When he reached Sungmin he held out the bandage he had retrieved. “Why do you insist on being a total idiot and ruining all my fun?”

Sungmin reached for the bandage but at the last minute he shifted and grabbed Kyuhyun’s wrist. In less than a second he had the younger man placed in a hold that he couldn’t easily get out of. “Because,” Sungmin’s voice carried a thrill of triumph, “I knew you would come to me to fix it instead of letting me bleed to death.”

Kyuhyun rolled his eyes. “You are getting blood on my floor and probably on me. I would rather you didn’t. There are some bodily fluids I never want to exchange with you.”

On the bed, Shindong cleared his throat. “You know there are some things I never wanted to see, hear, or even think about and this really qualifies as all three. I’m gonna go. We can finish our game later.” He stood from the bed and Kyuhyun cleared the rest of the maze with a thought. A second later he had disappeared into the hall.

“He has seen us wrestle and fool around a hundred times. What is his problem?” Sungmin asked somewhat amused.

“I believe he is afraid that this will dissolve into something sexual,” Kyuhyun replied.

Sungmin laughed. “He totally missed the point of this then.”

“And what is that?”

“To make you pay for trapping me in your little maze.”

“Oh really,” the corners of Kyuhyun’s lips turned up and Sungmin started in surprise as Kyuhyun’s body began to expand. It took him a second to realize that the younger man’s body wasn’t really expand but he was using highly pressurized air to press against the places where Sungmin held him as if it was. By the time he figured out what had happened, Kyuhyun had slipped from his hold and rapped him in a tight sleeve of pressurized air. To an observer it looked like Sungmin had just been frozen in place, when in reality he was simply being held there.

Calmly Kyuhyun opened the bandage and applied it to the finger Sungmin had cut. When it was affixed securely he looked up to find Sungmin smiling almost excitedly. “How long can you hold something like this?” Sungmin asked, his irritation forgotten.

Kyuhyun sighed, almost in exertion and the air around Sungmin loosened until he was free. “Not long, and I have to focus if you are trying to move at all. It also takes me a minute to create the pressurized air around your body in your exact shape.”

“Hm,” Sungmin hummed thoughtfully. “How hard would it be for you to put someone in, say a box?”

“Not too hard I don’t think,” Kyuhyun said with a shrug as he moved back to his bed and his game. “You seem chipper all the sudden.”

Sungmin laughed. “I just wanted you to see what you could do and you did that anyway. Do you think you could create one of those mazes whenever you wanted?”

Kyuhyun switched off his game and set it on the bedside table as he appeared to be thinking about it for a moment. “Probably. Why?”

“We should lock Heechul in one sometime. He would never see it coming until it was too late.”

Kyuhyun smiled. “And we could make our get away before he could do anything in retaliation.”

Sungmin laughed. “What else can you do with that air of yours?”

“Why don’t you come over here and find out?” Kyuhyun taunted. Sungmin laughed again, before doing as he was told. A stiff gust of wind swung the door solidly shut and the lock clicking into place the moment it was closed.

AN: Happy late Birthday aimaw! Sorry this was so late. It was a crazy week and I didn't have a chance to write it until just now. I hope you liked it. I was running low on ideas and I'm not sure how I feel about how this turned out.
